Home is wherever we are

We are Vickie & Fred Porter from Plano, Texas. We made the life changing decision to sell everything, buy a motor home, and hit the road full time in October, 2011. This was a big step for us having never camped, never traveled other than by car or airplane, and to leave our only daughter and granddaughter back in Dallas. So far, we have no regrets and are enjoying our chosen full time RV lifestyle. It's been an incredibly "freeing" experience to learn to live a much more simple lifestyle and have "no plans" (which basically makes our friends and family back home crazy). We're still learning about our rig and have made some "rookie mistakes" along the way, but we've learned not to take life too seriously and can look back on those mistakes and laugh about them now. I'm sure there will be many more to come but we're looking forward to adventures and following our dreams. We've found that we are the "young kids" in most places and we've met some great people that have been all too happy to share their experiences and advice with us. We've decided to start this trip journal for our friends and family back home that have (so far) seemed to enjoy our frequent updates on Facebook and have encouraged us to start a journal. So, again, something new to try and hopefully they will enjoy our tales from the road as much as we are enjoying experiencing them.
