Sep 11, 2011 - Masvingo - Great Zimbabwe ruins

Masterbuilders ! Eerst "on top of the...

May 7, 2008 - Masvingo

Bulawayo is a city of 2 million, wide, clean streets...as we drive to bus stations it looks eerily like a ghost town. Large industrial area is completely shut down due to lack of power & raw materials. The huge power plant was shut down last year because the coal used to generate the electricity is being exported for exchg $$ to import more critical goods(food, weapons, ??). Mfg. of blankets, iron works, tile, cement, lumber, fabrics & textiles of all kinds have been idle since last year. The facilities look to be in good shape all locked...

Apr 7, 2007 - Johanesburgo - Masvingo (ZIMBABWE)

Feb 27, 2006 - Masvingo - Great Zimbabwe Ruins

Got to Masvingo via a pretty long hot bus ride, but hey we are getting used to these now and i wont say we enjoy them but at least they are not unbearable close but not unbearable.... Tony had been here before 13 years ago!! and wanted to show Nancy around the major ancient monument of Southern Africa..... The Great Zimbabwe ruins were great the landscape is so different to rest of africa and as it is so green at the moment it was quite beautiful, but the reason it is so green is because in the afternoons it tends to rain and rain it did...

Sep 28, 2005 - Great Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe

Jun 12, 2005 - Great Zimbabwe Ruins

We were up early this morning for the thirty minute drive to the Zimbabwe border in order to beat out any other larger trucks and buses at this unpredictable crossing. Luckily there was very little congestion and we were the only large vehicle in line on this Sunday morning. We were further aided by immigration officials in a good mood who only gave the truck a quick cursory search before clearing it to cross. The only formality was walking into the building to purchase our visas and get out passports stamped. As a U.S. citizen, my visa was...
