Dec 1, 2012 - Nha Trang

Nov 18, 2012 - Nha Trang
I arrived about ten at night in Nah Trang, and made my way into town from the train station. I am stating to think I an more suited for flying than long train ride. Nah Trang is the Cozumel of Southeast Asia. The clubs were full of folks dancing and having a good time. I decided to get some rest and found a hotel with a sòft bed and a hot shower. In the morning I set up a dive trip and spent the day chilling on the beach. The vibe here is very laid back and relaxing. This is the most relaxed I have been on the trip. Today I went diving and...

Nov 12, 2012 - Ho Chi Minh City, Sleeper train and Nha Trang
Hello from Vietnam! I thought the 7 hour bus ride from Chau Doc to Ho Chi Minh City would have dragged, however I was very surprised because I slept for most of it the time flew by. We arrived early afternoon, and decided to do a cyclo trip around the City. A cyclo is like a bike with a seat on the front for the passenger to sit in, at first it was a bit scary as the motorbikes kept coming straight for us when I got onto a big roundabout just by our hotel. Roundabouts over here are not like roundabouts at home that's for sure. We visited...

Oct 26, 2012 - Good Morning Vietnam!
Yogyakarta ("Jogja") Our final night in Jogja was spent wandering the streets and admiring a bit of the night market before heading to bed at a reasonable hour to get ourselves up in time for our train ride into Jakarta the next morning. The night market is quite interesting, just during the weekend nights they set up mats along the streets with some very low tables and serve ridiciously cheap Indonesian food. Great fun and lots of tourists usually partake as it's near the 'backpacker's district' and, hey, it's cheap! Next morning we were...

Jun 23, 2012 - Heading North
I have started making my way up the coast of Vietnam by bus. A number of different companies offer "open tours" which means that one chooses a start city and an end city as well as a variety of destinations in between. The ticket is valid for 2 months and it entitles the traveler to make stopovers at the predetermined cities along the way. When you're ready to journey onward you notify the company the day before and off you go. On the longer stretches some of the companies offer "sleeper" buses which actually have sleeping berths instead...

Jun 9, 2012 - Nha Trang and it aint Benidorm
We spent a great few days in a place called mui ne on the coast in Vietnam and we managed to find a really nice little hotel and it was so good we stayed on an extra day. We met a few people and we all hung out together and went out for a few meals and sat around chatting so it was great. The beach was only at the end of the road although there was a significant hill to walk up and at night there were more than a couple of fat rats to navigate around so that was a bit of a bummer. The Vietnamese people are really nice but they do try to rip...

Apr 21, 2012 - Nha Trang, Vietnam
Overnight, we sailed north along the coast of Vietnam and arrived at the anchorage point for Nha Trang. The first thing we noticed was the Vinpearl Cable Car, which links Hon Tre Island with Nha Trang. Also, this stop is a tender stop, which means they don’t tie up at the pier but, take us ashore in the small boats. It’s really a very orderly process and quite efficient in getting lots of passengers off the ship quickly. Nha Trang is one of Vietnam’s most popular seaside resorts, a major fishing port, and bustling city. White sand beaches,...

Apr 18, 2012 - Vietnam - Day 17 - Mountain Beaches of Nah Trang
Nah Trang, population of 340,000, the 6km beach capital of Vietnam with the best municipal stretch of sand in the country. Offshore islands add to the appeal, offering decadent boat trips on the water and some of Vietnam's best diving under it. The setting is stunning, with towering mountains looming up behind the city, the long, sweeping beach stretching into the distance, and the turquoise waters dotted with little islands. Nah Trang is a study in contrasts, as the main city is still a bustling Vietnamese entity, buzzing along oblivious...

Mar 14, 2012 - Nha Trang, Vietnam
It is partly cloudy and hazy as we sail into Nha Trang in early morning. The smell of smoke is in the air along with several single-engine planes flying low overhead. After breakfast, we set out on a tour bus to see the highlights of Nha Trang. Our first stop is the Po Nagar Cham Towers. These are one of the few remaining testaments to the ancient Cham civilization. Eight towers were built between the 7th and 12th centuries to mark the site upon which Hindus had worshipped for more than 500 years. Only four spires remain but they are the...

kolme päivää vietettiin täällä, käytiin biitsillä isojen aaltojen pyöriteltävänä, syötiin maailman mureimpia ribsejä jenkkiravintolassa ja yks päivä vietettiin vinpearlin huvipuistossa. oli vuoristorataa, vesiliukumäkiä, pelihalli ja iso akvaario, jossa pääsi liukuhihnalla lasisen tunnelin läpi haiden, rauskujen ym. uidessa yläpuolella ja sivuilla. pienten kommellusten johdosta ei päästykään yöbussiin vaan aamulla on 11 tunnin bussimatka edessä, mukavaa päivää odotellessa ;)

Mar 11, 2012 - Easy Rider Trip to Nha Trang
We saw so much on the 3 day Easy Rider trip that there is no way to explain it all so I'm just going to list what we did during each of the three days. Each day we were on the motorcycles a lot (especially the first and last day), but it was broken up by a lot of sightseeing stops. I did enjoy the trip but I think I was expecting something a little different, so I felt like it wasn't really worth the money that I spent. It was very similar to the one day Easy Rider trip that we went on, and I was expecting the scenery to be much different...

Mar 10, 2012 - Nha Trang
March 10 to 11 Nha Trang Ian loves Bun Cha! This is a dish with rice noodles, grilled pork meat and patties, springs rolls, and a nice broth. We took a boat ride out to the fishing island, toured the island and stopped at this daycare. The kids were sooooo excited to see us. They just yell HI the whole time while jumping up and down. Too cute! Then went snorkling in the ocean and enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the boat. Our group found a local beach side restaurant that we loved and went there for afternoon cocktails and evening...
