Our border crossing was extremely cool. Ha Tien was only 8km from the border so back onto the bikes and off we go. ... Ha Tien does not have much, and looking back it was not the cleanest place ever, but we found it to be fine. ... 23 February - To Ha Tien (via Rach Gia) I had wanted to get a boat to Ha Tien on leaving the island, rather than going back to Rach Gia, as Ha Tien is nearer where I want to be to get into Cambodia. ... The LP says the boat journey to Ha Tien is dangerous however, when I enquired of the lady at the hotel in Can Tho, before taking the bus to Rach Gia, she told me it wasn't now, as did the lady owner of my bungalow in Phu Quoc. ... At Rach Gia I got a motorbike to the bus station and straight onto a bus which left about 10 minutes later at 1600, destination Ha Tien which was only 90km away. ... By the time we arrived at Ha Tien it was 1845 and we crossed over a 'floating bridge' (I couldn't make out much as it was dark but it seemed only a certain amount of traffic could pass at a time each way. ... I went to a restaurant recommended as serving the best food in Ha Tien, which Cuong had concurred with, seafood being big here being situated near the coast, and I found Cuong sitting outside talking to a French couple, although it is unlikely there will be many foreign tourists in Ha Tien. ...

Took Superdong fast ferry to port city of Rach Gia after 5 great days on Phu Quoc - relaxing, snorkelling, getting news! After 2 1/2 hour ferry we to motorbikes from dock to bus station and caught bus to border town of Ha Tien, arriving +/- 7 pm. ... In Ha Tien we found accomodations - one room for all 5, Mari slept on couch, the rest of us shared 2 dbl beds. ...
