- In the morning we took care of our last minute tailor appointments. It is funny how little things like that can make you feel more connected to home:) I am having an incredible time here, but I definitely miss everyone!!! - On day two, we visited the Cu Chi tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City with an EXCELLENT tour guide. ... At the site, we saw a propaganda video that was shown to the Vietnamese at the time of the Vietnam war, traps for American soldiers, and got to crawl through a portion of the tunnel network that was built in the Cu Chi district of Vietnam. ... Jun 21, 2008 - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

We flew out from Da Nang, but not without having to walk across the bridge to our bus because road construction had closed the road to the island where the hotel was. Another feast of prawns, egg roll, rice and morning glory stems fried with garlic (listed on the menu as "glory weed with garlic") The other exciting thing to be happening here is happening at the hotel across the street - the 2008 Miss Universe contest preparations! The men are all eyes! Sunday today - as we commented on the large number of motorbikes on the street our guide accompanying us to the underground tunnels of the Viet Cong at Cu Chi mentions it was Sunday and the traffic light! Now there are estimated to be 5 million motorbikes and 1 million cars in Saigon. ... Cu Chi is amazing and depressing. ... We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (although that is the correct name, it is used interchangably with Saigon) about 4pm so we had time to walk about before supper. Okay, so i'm trying to do this in order so I can keep organized with my entries/map. So we ran to a tourist agent and booked a half day trip to see the Cu Chi tunnels *for those of you who don't know what they are - it was an ingenious maze of underground tunnels that the vietnamese army built to live in beginning in the war w/ the french}. ... So on our way back from booking, we finally experienced why they call this the monsoon season.Okay, so i'm trying to do this in order so I can keep organized with my entries/map.
