Feb 12, 2009 - Gia Nghia, Bu Ma Thuot and Lak Lake
Tripjournal can't find this place, so we will have to do without a map location! I do not have the patience to try and find it, sorry! Again amazing views heralded our drive through, with lots of waving to children along the way. Then it all got a bit stressful as we entered Buon Ma Thuot, the coffee central area of Vietnam (Vietnam is the 2nd largest exporter of coffee). ... Made our own spring rolls for lunch which was yummy, and then took awrong turning and it all got very busy and not nice! Eventually turned round and got back on track and it turned into a lovely ride - smells of coffee, flowers and tea.Tripjournal can't find this place, so we will have to do without a map location! Mar 13, 2007 - Up in to the Hills
I had planned to get an early night to be ready for a full day's balancing on a motorbike, but I went for a nightcap at the bar I was at the previous night, and ran in to some of the people and staff I'd met the night before, and although there was no beer drunk by me I still somehow ended up being out until 3am, so when I met Son, my driver/guide, the next morning I was a bit tired.I had planned to get an early night to be ready for a full day's balancing on a motorbike, but I went for a nightcap at the bar I was at the previous night, and ran in to some of the people and staff I'd met the night before, and although there was no beer drunk by me I still somehow ended up being out until 3am, so when I met Son, my driver/guide, the next morning I was a bit tired....

Aug 27, 2006 - VIETNAM: Buon Ma Thuot & Diet!
Well I haven't really mentioned much on the Vietnamese diet probably because most of it is so bad that I would never taste it! Dog, Cat and Snake are all famous specialities. Buon Ma Thuot (BMT), again is another place rarely visited by tourists. ... Flo and I stumbled across a restaurant which certainly had some strange options on the menu.Well I haven't really mentioned much on the Vietnamese diet probably because most of it is so bad that I would never taste it! This is a must do in Vietnam. The guys dropped us in the major town of the Highlands, called Buon Ma Thuot after another fine Vietnamese meal, and after some sad farewells, we were off on the bus over the Phoenix mountain pass to Nha Trang, and they were on the bikes back to Da Lat. ... Jun 17, 2005 - Buon Ma Thuot (Vietnam)
I got absolutely drenched today! Luu (the Easyrider!) picked me up outside my hotel at 8:30am. The weather did not seem to stop anyone else either, Luu said that the people were happy to have rain as it made the rice grow! I thought that if it had carried on for much longer it would have made my hair grow as well!! Eventually we arrived just outside Buon Ma Thuot after 4 hours of torrential rain and a few worrying bends! The place we were staying was actually very nice, what they call bungalows on the edge of a very picturesque valley, it was just very wet! I showered and got into dry clothes before going for dinner (more rice this time with very spicy pork). ... I had my first taste of rice wine, which is actually stronger than whiskey! Luckily the custom was to sip it and not knock it back in one! I was sat next to the chef, who Luu said was very drunk.I got absolutely drenched today!
