Mar 15, 2009 - Buenos Aires
We arrived in Buenos Aires slightly later than we had expected as our original flight out of Santiago had been cancelled! Luckily the airline we were going with managed to put us on a later flight, so we ended up flying at 4pm instead of 10am. This did mean we arrived at our hostel at about 8pm and missed out on the chance to see the local football team, Boca Juniors, playing a home match! Instead we settled into our hostel for the night, ready to meet up with our GAP Adventures group the next day. We checked out about 10am and walked to...

Mar 8, 2009 - Buenos Aires
This is departure day. I probably will not do an entry this day. We fly from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires, domestic airport, and a few hours later, I go to the International Airport and leave South America. Buenos Aires to Atlanta, then Atlanta to San Diego. Thought about the trip: I've been wanting to come here for about 7 years and I finally made it. Patagonia is beautiful; remote, rugged, wild, sparsely populated, unspoiled (as far as I could tell), interesting history. I did not see much trash in the parks and I hope it stays that way. I met...

Feb 20, 2009 - Buenos Aires
This morning we took the "buquebus" to get from Uruguay to Argentina... the funny thing about this "buquebus"-thing is that the name means something like a boat-bus, but from the inside it looks like a weird cross of a shopping mall and an airplane... stange thing (o: so at around 10 am we arrived in Buenos Aires... the weather wasn't exactly nice... pretty crappy actually, but I won't complain... I've been soo lucky so far with the weather... so we decided that we didn't want to "waste" any time just sitting around inside, so we walked...

Feb 7, 2009 - Arrive Buenos Aires
We flew into Buenos Aires today and saw the city for the first time. We experienced a slight bit of culture shock when checking into our hotel. Not quite the standards we´re used to, but it had air conditioning! Spent a couple of hours touring the Recoleta Cemeterio, shopping in the plaza, and people watching in an outdoor cafe. The city is pretty empty right now. Evidently everyone leaves Buenos Aires at this time for holiday. We met our group for the first time today! Walked through the Plaza de Mayo on our way to dinner with everyone....

Dec 23, 2008 - Kenny and David's Top 10 Lists
All along the way when we met other travelers we were usually asked "What has been the high lite of your trip so far?" Then we would usually look at one another in bewilderment and begin to stutter. There was far to much to assign a favorite and certainly not a favorite that we could both agree on so here we have our own 'top 10' lists. We made these without looking at each others and when we each saw the other we both had moments where we said "Oh I want that on my list, too" but we left them in their original form because they reflect...

Dec 5, 2008 - Buenos Aires
We took an early flight back to Buenos Aires via Rio Gallego this morning. And we are now back at the Hotel (not-so) Splendid. The good thing is that the road work in front of hotel has been completed in our absence and they made some minor improvement within hotel – fixed the railings on the stairwell, changed some burnt out light bulbs in the hall way, removed the old couches in the lobby... After settling in our room (with no one in it and toilet flushes normally), we met up with Steve and Jen to walk to the Ateneo Gran Spledid, a...

Jul 5, 2008 - David is in Buenos Aires
There is not much to report yet. I am just getting situated, but the city seems fun. I went to two theatrical productions in Spanish last night with the director of the shows. They started at 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. respectively. I was up till 5:00 a.m. and for those of you who know me, that is pretty odd. They were both great, actually. And today I went to a travelling Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit that was held, in true Latin-American fashion, in a mall!

Apr 17, 2008 - Malos Aires
I added most of this yesterday but it didn´t save so second time lucky: Unlucky you, I have another bus journey with which to bore you and as it is only supposed to be a 17 hour mostly overnight journey with three English movies to watch you can feel somewhat aggrieved that I have been given an extra 6 hours to collect my thoughts. The 6 hours is an estimate, but I believe we are held up by natural forces although I am mistified how fog can stop traffic for 6 hours in daylight. We had been going 15 hours with just the occasional police...

Apr 15, 2008 - Buenos Aires
Paul took the whole group on a walking tour of Buenos Aires for the day. We started off taking a trip on the underground to Plaza Italia, from there we walked down a small colourful street, similar to Newtown. We stopped at a cafe for breakfast/coffee and a look around the shops in the area. We saw a few dog walkers with about 10 dogs on leads that were very well behaved. We then walked through the botanical gardens, where there were many stray cats. We also walked past the zoo and through other parks, full of ponds, rose gardens gravel...

Apr 14, 2008 - Buenos Aires (part 2 of my trip)
Monday - Well, as I sit here typing this I am nursing my hangover. Dragged my sorry arse out of bed at about 11 and to "cure" my hangover I hit the shops! There is a very famous shopping mall here which is kind of like the Mailbox (think YSL and Dior) only here I can actually afford the stuff! I am now the very proud owner of a gorgeous bag!! Felt very sex and the city strutting my stuff. Neckscarf, sunglasses and credit card in hand! Not so good when you come out of the mall back to the more typical scene of beggers, street vendors selling...

Jan 17, 2008 - Buenos Aires 17th to 21st January
17th January Up and ready to leave at 8am we proceed back to Brazilian and Argentinian customs which fortunately were quicker than yesterday. We checked in for our Aerolineas Argentinas flight to Buenos Aires and find that we are right at the back of the plane with agreat view of the tail mounted engine. Catch a flight to the "Paris of the Americas" and enjoy a city tour during your stay. The capital city of Argentina, Buenos Aires is the ultimate cosmopolitan city. Travellers find that it has more in common with the cities of Europe than...

Dec 29, 2007 - Buenos Aires
We are due to arrive in Buenos Aires on 27th December, two days ahead of the the start of the organised tour which gives us plenty of time to get over the flight and explore Buenos Aires - hope to do a bit of Argentinian Shopping (don't tell Mike, he'll have to carry it!) Very worried about getting "the trots", due to my delicate tummy - I'm bad enough in Paris! Hope our travelling companions are interesting - looking forward to meeting these 12 or so people who we are going to spend the next couple of weeks with.
