Jun 11, 2013 - South Carolina
As we contnued up the east coast we contemplated where next. We tend to follow the philosophy of one of our favorite travel people, Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations". In that light, we may or may not know where we are headed next. This was no exception. We decided to stop in Charleston. We camped about 20 minutes outside of town, a town with lots of outlying traffic repairs, thus congestion. I must admit the wait was worth it. This town is has a huge waterfront which of course is where we tend to migrate. Still in progress...

May 29, 2013 - Linda (My Blind Friend)
Today I had an enjoyable visit with my friend from where I use to work. Her name is Linda and she is blind. She has a seeing eye dog named Teddy. We had a great lunch of Chinese Food. One of my very favorite flowering plants is the Azaleas. When driving over to Linda's when I made the turn to her street I saw this house with the most beautiful Azaleas in their yard. I said I am going to have to take a picture of that yard before going into Linda's house. Well low and behold my GPS said you have arrived and I was parked right in front of...

May 21, 2013 - Real Camping
Today we traveled through parts of Mississippi that were last seen in Deliverance, but oh so beautiful it was. We are now in a lovely state park named Grand Gulf Military Monument on the site of a Civil War Battle. It is beautiful and has a museum loaded with Civil War memorabilia where we plan to spend some time. Directly across the road is "River Road" which leads to the Mississippi, but the road isn't necessary since the Mississippi came to us. The road is covered by the Mississippi and closed to traffic . Down the road a couple of...

May 21, 2013 - Palo Duro Canyon to Wichita Falls (Texas)
We awoke to a very dark sky this morning . We were headed out of Palo Duro Canyon at 8:00. Aren't you all (not ya'll) surprised at how early I've been getting up on this trip??!! We wanted to get packed up and on the road before it started raining. I had 2 messages on my cell and I just knew they were from Mom and Ingrid, and yes they were. They were both very concerned about us because of the tornadoes. I called them both back to assure then we were OK. Wichita Falls was SE of where we were and the sky looked much better in that direction...

May 21, 2013 - Mackinaw City to Paradise, MI
Our sausage and vegetable soup last night was terrific. Too bad I really don’t know all that I did to make it! We watched an old Denzel Washington movie, Man on Fire, and I managed to stay up until after 10:00 to see then end which is very unusual. Rained all night and was windy. What we did not realize was the horrible tornado in Moore, NE. Once we look at the news in the morning we don’t realize what else in the world is going on other than perhaps some yahoo news when we check email on the PC. Bob noticed a crack in the hitch so we are...

May 21, 2013 - College Park, Tuesday
After several busy days, we basically loafed off today. We stopped by Costco to pick up a few things, and found the man in the photo sleeping on their furniture. He even took his shoes off and propped them up on the coffee table! Anyone that does that is fair game for a photo, right? We have been trying to find a campground for Memorial Day weekend, but weren't having any luck. Every place we called was booked solid. We finally found one in Ashland, Virginia with one space left. It's only about 100 miles south of here, just north of...

May 21, 2013 - Coos Bay
Time for another update on the beautiful “Gold Coast of Oregon”. By Florida, Arizona and Maine standards, winter has not completely left the area. We have had more sunny days, but the winds have remained brisk. Temps have been mostly in 60’s during the day and 40’s at night. The locals keep telling us that summer is coming, but cautioned, “don’t sleep late or you might miss it”, or “don’t worry about getting a sun tan, Oreganders just rust”. Bud and Fran Vivian visited us last week, we worked with them our first year in Maine and were...

May 21, 2013 - Amarillo, ...le Texas

May 21, 2013 - Cincinnati South Rose Garden Campground
Northward ho the trek continues. Man it was the hottest day of the trip so far today 90F and 90% humidity. Visiting another park we did on our previous trip, glad for GPS as we had a heck of a time finding it. Not much news for today as it was rather uneventful trip thru the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky. Plenty of horse farms as expected, street names like Man O War drive etc, they know which side their bread is buttered on. See in the news the Wings are surprising the Hawks cant trust them old fellas I guess. Take care all and see you...

May 21, 2013 - NY day 4 Downtown
Today we explored the Downtown area. We began with the 9/11 memorial, which was an ordeal to get to because of the huge numbers of other tourists, but surprisingly respectful and understated - not a single American flag in sight. We saw the nearly completed Freedom Tower last night on the cruise, but it was good to see close up. It will have an observation deck and be the latest tallest building in the city. A short walk took us to Wall Street and the US Stock Exchange. Unfortunately a great part of the beautiful facade was covered by a...
