Well Folks, a lot of America is in trees like on the Coast of Washington, and there is even more land that is just barren. Wright Wyoming is barren - not a tree in sight as far as you can see on the landscape, but there were 5 small trees planted in the grass at this road rest. Of course three trees were dead but the other two trees had leaves on them, green leaves. The rest stop is for rest only - no overnight camping - you can stay at the rest stop for a maximum of 10 hours - only! The price for violation of the 10 hour stay rule is...

Jun 26, 2008 - Black Thunder Mine

Today we went on the Escapees HOP (Tour) to the Black Thunder Mine. Our tour was conducted by Chelsea. This one mining operation produces nearly 9% of the US coal supply. More than 9 million train cars have been loaded with coal from the Black Thunder Mine since operations started in 1977. The energy equivalent of 750,000 barrels of oil is produced daily at this mine.
