Sep 8, 2014 - Lingle, WY

Mon, 08 Sep: Continuing west... A road day. After a week at Americas Mailbox and an additional three days at Rushmore Shadows it was time to get on the move again. "Hitch Itch" needs to be scratched, and rolling wheels seems to work best. We awoke when we awoke, which was fairly early this morning. Following breakfast we got busy with our pre-departure chores. Bob dumped our holding tanks while Sandi checked tire pressure. We chatted with Miles for a bit and got underway about 0845. Since the RV park is right on US 16 it was a very short...

Apr 9, 2014 - A long day

We got back on the road a little before 10:00 am. We started out with a southwesterly wind. Our fuel mileage dropped on down to 9.1 mpg. We had only planned to drive to Ogallala, Nebraska today but we had arrived around 1:00 and decided to try to make it to our next stop in Wheatland, Wy. So we kept going west. It was a pretty day and the wind died down around noon so it wasn't as bad driving. We were in the vicinity of Chimney Rock when we thought about trying a park that might be closer than Wheatland. We had stopped for dinner in...

Jul 12, 2012 - Fort Laramie, Register Rock and the Ruts, Wyoming

Fort Laramie, WyomingWe visited the site of the historic Fort Laramie. Some of the buildings have been restored and there were guides to explain what we were seeing. Register Rock Register rock is one of the places along the Oregon Trail where the emigrants engraved their names and date. Some even listed where they were from. The Ruts The repeated passage of the iron wagon wheels cut deep ruts into the limestone. These ruts can be seen today. Next we...

Hither 'N' Yon 2012

Sep 22, 2008 - site technical problems

Not to mention user laziness and weak internet connections. We left the ocean and the rain and spent about 10 days in the John Day Oregon area. A beautiful campsite on the river at Clyde Holliday state park. Next stop: Three Island Crossing state park in southern Idaho after a stop over in Meridian to see if we could get the Airstream issues addressed. (Decided to wait until we hit Casper, WY) Left Idaho and went to Yellowstone National Park for a couple of nights. COLD at night. Left just in time to miss the snow. Spent a couple of nights...

Jul 16, 2008 - "Lingle, Wyoming"

I am not sure how long I will be able to stay on line to post. The internet here is really weak and keeps kicking me off line. I hope I get to finish. We will see. As the Title states we are in Lingle, Wyoming. We got here very late yesterday. We left Colorado Springs about 9:30 their time and arrived here about 4:00. We were both worn out, so didn't do much after we got set up. We are going to stay here overnight. I need to get our laundry caught up and we needed to go into Torrington and do some grocery shopping. We did so much running...
