Sep 14, 2019 - Quickdraw, Schwacher Walk, Bill for dinner

Date: September 14, 2019 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 37º High 78º Wildlife count: Year List: 321 Birds: We enjoyed breakfast at the Bunnery, which was excellent, even if quite expensive. Today was the first time we had the opportunity to attend Quick Draw, which is where local artists have 90 minutes to produce a masterpiece, either in sculpture, oil or watercolor – then the art is auctioned. The average price is around $3000 - $5000. We decided it was just too pretty to stay home, so we drove up to Schwabacher’s Landing and...

Relaxed a bit in the...

Date: September 11, 2019 Weather: rain Temperature: start 43º High 55º Wildlife count: Pine Squirrel Year List: 321 Birds: Breakfast at Bubba’s, then completed ‘special projects’ at the VC – we didn’t complete everything until 2:30. Spent the afternoon working on plans for our Alaska 2020 trip – lots of excitement in the planning – working from a lot of resources as well. Dinner was a green salad and left-over chicken/rice. There is snow on Rendezvous Mountain, and everyone is talking about winter already. Temps are supposed to be close...

The day was hectic. Walt and I raked and picked up goose scat for almost an hour, and we didn’t get it all. We set up outdoors for the raptors, and about ½ way through, the weather changed, and we moved the smaller raptors indoors – it all worked but was a lot of work! Ben...

We decided their coffee is not nearly as good as our pour-over! As we drove west along the Shoshoni River, we encountered a lot of wind and some showers. Just outside of Yellowstone, we checked out a forest service campground to be able to share with guests, and it was quite nice. There was room for...

Sep 3, 2019 - Extremely busy day...

Date: September 3, 2019 Weather: mostly sunny Temperature: start 40º High 85º Wildlife count: Year List: 321 Birds: We opened the VC this morning, and it was rather quiet for the first hour, but then everything broke loose – we were all inundated by guests, mostly retirees. There were so many folks that 2 of our 5 Talon Tuesday folks spent much of the time at the desk. After Talon Tuesday, it remained busy, so that we were even late leaving. All of us on the opening shift were exhausted and talked about a drink at home! We came home...

Baked 45 minutes at 350°. We dropped it at the Miller House along with the cool whip and headed to Bubba’s for breakfast. We were surprised to see firefighters still working on the butte fire, as well as choppers dropping water – they worked all day. The VC was busy...
