Apr 25, 2013 - Laramie to Cheyenne, WY
Last night we watched an episode of the Good Wife that we had brought along with us. We are addicted and are only on season one! I slept in my heavy sweat pants and a hooded sweat shirt just to be safe. Bob got out our portable heater so we seemed to be set for most anything. Bob’s feet were still cold so he bought 3 pairs of socks for $75!!! They had better keep him warm. The morning was cold but beautiful. My Sonoma neighbor, Mary, grew up in Casper, WY and spent 2 years at UW where she was a Tri Delt. ( I was a Tri Delt too!). Tri Delt...

Apr 22, 2013 - oh yes, we departed alright!
4/19-4/22/2013 TX to WO We took off under beautiful blue skies, several hours late but, before noon, so we in the Boase family consider that a huge success. Our boys will understand that we pulled out without going back for anything…shocking! The first stop we made was this momma’s kitchen table eatin (cracker barrel) in Denton for lunch then hauled our full tummies to Wichita Falls. We stopped for gas and so happy we did as I was able to point out that dads truck sure was leaning to the side bad. Luckily momma had her powerful super duper...

Apr 11, 2013 - The Daddy of 'em All
I treated myself to a breakfast out this morning. I sure miss my 5th wheel, but I sure enjoyed my bacon, eggs and pancakes...which came with my own pitcher of coffee. No, it wasn't IHOP. Spent the day getting to know Cheyenne. And much of it at the Cowboy Museum right next to the Cheyenne Frontier Days grounds. The museum itself wouldn't have been worth the $8 fee, but they were having their annual Western Art Show and Sale and I thoroughly enjoyed moseying through the large area and many aisles several times. Rilyn...if you are reading...

Apr 10, 2013 - And I Just Kept Driving...
You know, if I had taken the southern route, I wouldn't have met Ranold. Yes, he says he RAN until he was OLD. And he is getting up there at 83 years of age. He was shoveling snow on the ground when I came over and asked him if he had something I could use to get rid of the snow on my slide-outs. He wouldn't let me do anything. First he got a ladder and removed the snow with a dust pan. But finding an inch of solid ice under all the loose snow puzzled him for a second. But only a second. He had me drive to the front of the laundry/shower...

Sep 25, 2012 - Cheyenne WY
We decided to take two days to reach Denver against Richard’s better judgment. As we were driving down I-25 just south of Chugwater WY, Pete and Geri Stelljes passed us on their way home to Arizona. They slowed down long enough to wave out the window of their car and blow their horn. As we approached Cheyenne, our overnight stop, all around us was rain. We made it to the campground and set up with just minutes to spare.

Sep 11, 2012 - Cheyenne, Wyoming
Second day here in Cheyenne. The plan is to go a little later to do some site seeing. It is raining this morning but is going to let up as the day goes on. They have a trolly car down town that visits all the local historic spots. Will most likely do that unless it is really raining hard. Will collect a few pictures and post. Tomorrow we will get up and proceed into Nebraska. Weather is suppose to clear and be cooler, nice for driving. I noticed yesterday google maps showed us 1,800 miles from home. We have changed the itinerary a little,...

Left our RV spot in employees parking early this morning around 6:00am. We have a long days drive on our way to meet some friends before heading to Sedalia, MO for the 2012 Escapade. Tonight we stayed at the Wyoming National Guard Museum. Today we drove 480 miles.

Aug 29, 2012 - Day 127, back through Wyoming
Day 127, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 We got up at 6:30 so we could say goodbye to Jess and the kids before they went to school. As we loaded on the car (during which Rob tweaked his back), there were four more deer wandering down the street and into yards. We got a good early start but lost it when we had to sit and wait at some road construction for a half hour. Right outside of town we saw a few wild turkeys near the road. We went south through Billings (for the 6th time). Usually we see a lot of antelope along the way but until this time...

Aug 21, 2012 - Cheyenne - Day 2
It's fun to go to less traveled places and learn what there is to see in the area. Today we spent the morning at the state capitol. It's small but very beautiful. It seems like the smaller the state, the more beautiful the capital building is. After our tour of the capitol, we decided it would be good to have a coffee break. We haven't had one at all on this trip. According to the GPS, there was a Dunkin Donuts a mile and a half away. We found the building, no problem, but no DD. The former Dunkin Donuts had become a Boston Donut and now...

Aug 20, 2012 - Cheyenne, Wyoming
Cheyenne is not as famous a tourist stop as places we visited in Colorado but there are a lot of visitors here nevertheless. Our campground is nearly full. Cheyenne is in the very southeast corner of Wyoming. Yet it is the capital city. The reason is that it was founded early in the history of Wyoming as the site where the Union Pacific Railroad would come through when the transcontintal railroad was built after the Civil War. It became the territorial capital and then the state capital. It was very affluent. Cattle barons brought their...

Aug 10, 2012 - Missoula to Cheyenne
Missoula Day 5 August 2, 2012 Getting from Sandpoint to Missoula can be done by gong south to Coeur d’ Alene and making a left turn onto I-90. We took the more scenic route along Hwy. 200. That took us along more of Lake Pend Oreille through places like Hope, Clark Fork. Then it was into Montana and through Thompson Falls. The highway paralleled the Clark Fork River. About four hours after leaving Sandpoint, we pulled into the Jellystone RV Campground on the northeast side of Missoula. We drove to our assigned site to find a car parked in...

Aug 9, 2012 - Cheyenne, Wyoming
We left North Platte, Nebraska around 0900 and drove 228 miles to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We arrived in Cheyenne around 1200 local time which is an hour earlier than North Platte because we crossed from the Central Time Zone to the Mountain Time Zone. The weather is North Platte was in 72 degrees and the sky was clear and there was very little wind. The roadway was very good in Nebraska with a couple of construction zones which simply reduced the speed limit from 75 to 55 for a few miles. The elevation starts increasing shortly after North...
