Jul 19, 2012 - Down to Casper, WY
Today we traveled southeast from Cody to Casper, WY. The western terrain is so unique. It’s amazing to gaze out across the land in all directions, and as far as the eye can see there are barren miles of straw-colored rolling hills covered with spotty sage brush….nothing else, absolutely nothing! (correction: a few herds of pronghorns here and there) Then we came up to the section of highway that cuts across the Owl Mountain range. The high ridges of jagged rocks are so magnificently beautiful with the river flowing below and the railroad...

Jul 12, 2012 - More Puppies :)
Well! Today I woke up and went down to the house and had breakfast, then we decided to go see the puppies. And they've gotten so much bigger! Definitely cuter as well. I took millions of pictures, and I wheelbarreled them about 20 feet up the hill back home but Aunt Mich had to take over because hauling 5 rambunctious puppies up the mountain, not to mention heavy, is a hardship. Aunt Mich finally got them up the mountain, and I unloaded them on the deck. They were very hyper at first, wanting to explore, but then one by one they started...

Jul 11, 2012 - Cleaning Day :)
Not much to say for today, I woke up and had breakfast and then I got my bags all packed to move into the garage this evening. I then dusted the whole house, Aunt Mich scrubbed, and Uncle Bill was vaccummer. I just finished and Aunt Mich said I could get on the computer, so might as well get on here :P Tomorrow I'll see if I can get on, although I don't really know the schedule. That's a first! Miss you all, only 6 more days. They will be very eventful for me though haha. xoxoxoxoxox P.S. Going to wash my hair today and see what...

Jul 10, 2012 - Well. I dyed the tips of my hair.
All righty...looks like from my title that I have a little explaining to do. First of all, Kool Aid washes out Mom. And I only did the tips of my hair in case you absolutely hate it, but Aunt Mich and Uncle Bill really like it, as do I. It's kind of a blue-ish green color, and it looks really cute. I really don't see how you won't like it, but of course, I only did the tips. Today I slept until 12, and then Aunt Mich came in and said we had errands to do and I had one hour to get ready. So I showered and hurried out and we went down the...

Jul 10, 2012 - Devil's Tower and travel day
traveling day toward the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone - Wyoming detour to Devil's Tower, the 1st National Monument AND another stamp! This rock formation is 867 ft high from the Visitor's Center - 1267 ft above the river bed - 5,112 ft above sea level. The Indians originally called it Bear Tepee. Colonel Dodge's surveyors (I don't know anything about him - nor do I care to) misunderstood and thought the Indians said 'bad god tower'. It's only a short leap from there to Devil's Tower. Several Indian nations of the Great Plains share...

Jul 9, 2012 - Making Our Way Home
Well, I got about 11 hours of sleep last night, and Aunt Mich woke me up around 10 this morning. We got ourselves all packed and had a little toothbrush issue that was quickly resolved. Uncle Bill took our bags out and Aunt Mich and I went and got seats for breakfast. I had quite the hefty breakfast : 2 slices of bread, 1 egg, 2 slices of bacon, and a lot of those little brown potatoes that are simply delectable. Since their last visit to this hotel wasn't great, and they gave it a bad review, we got a free night and a $25 gift certificate...

Jul 6, 2012 - Casper, WY
Today was a day off -- thank God. The chance to do errands and have a little free time feels so good. I even continued my geocaching streak in the "day-off" cities. The ride into Casper was tough -- 120 miles -- the longest I've ever gone. The last 100 miles were against a 20+ mph head wind. There was only one thing worth taking a picture of, Hell's Half Acre -- a really big canyon with some history. The rest was scrub desert. Casper is not a pleasing to the eye as Boise. It seems to be an oil business town. They had a huge ranch/western...

Jun 29, 2012 - Casper, WY - New Driver Licenses
(Ron Writing) Today we found out that renewing a driver license has become quite an ordeal! There are many new rules imposed on states by the federal government related to “homeland security”. I guess these rules are in place to more stringently insure that the person getting a driver license or ID card is really the person he/she claims to be. There is a two page instruction describing this process and the various documents that may be used to: 1) Prove your identity, 2) Prove your Social Security number, 3) Prove your residential address....

Another 13 hours from Amarillo, Texas to Casper, Wy. Stayed at Casper East RV. If you think Houston traffic is bad, try Denver. Picked up a nail in the tire on the Saturn and had to get it fixed in Casper before heading out. From Cheyenne to Casper is a long lonely road.

Jun 4, 2012 - Estes to Casper
Hi, Friends, We are now in Bar Nunn, WY just west of Casper at a small KOA campground and as Liz Wolf would say we're rockin' and rollin' tonight. The wind has picked up and the trailer ( still attached to the truck ) is rockin' in our lucky 13 campsite. The drive here on I-25N was uneventful, only 278 miles today. It was HOT -95 degrees but for most of the trip the wind was at our backs. We left Estes Park at 8:45, followed the Big Thompson River north through a beautiful canyon then through prairie-horse country mostly plus our first...

May 29, 2012 - Tuesday 30th May
Tuesday 30th May We finished packing and left the hotel around 9.30am. We decided we wanted to see Mt Rushmore on our way to Road America, so we headed east on I-80 to Rawlins, then took the back roads heading north. We stopped the night at a little place in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, called Wright. Lovely hotel, and the restaurant next door produced some of the best steak we’ve ever had. As a bonus, a huge herd of buffalo turned up across the road from the restaurant (we had a window seat looking over the prairies) and a deer...

May 10, 2012 - Casper WY and on to Gardiner and Yellowstone
Staying in a truck stop always seems to get us going earlier. We left Douglas and headed up I-25 with Billings our destination for the night. Before we got to Casper we saw signs for a 5 floor Western Wear Store and the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. When we arrived in Casper, we parked the coach in a truck stop and unhooked the ‘toad’. We drove downtown to Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters Western Wear store. It did have 5 floors but one is their office. It probably was the biggest western wear store we had ever seen. The...
