Apr 26, 2009 - Sturgeon Spawning

The sturgeon are spawning in the Wolf River. These giant fish(5-6 feet long) use the rocks along the shore as spawning beds. The females bang up against the rocks to assist in the dropping of the eggs and the males swim in the midst of all this activity to fertile the dropping eggs. It is quite the show of flapping tails and fins as these ancient giants continue the cycle of life.

Where is Tortuga?

Apr 25, 2009 - New London

After a very enjoyable time with Lois's family, we headed off to New London to spend time with Helen's family. Tortuga is enjoying the road. We have seen much water standing in the farm fields, wisps of green on the willows, blooming hyacinths, and experienced warm, shorts wearing weather for a day. Oh yes, Roadkill count Deer 3 Raccoon 1 Living Deer 6 Wild Turkey 5.
