The car is finally packed (I hope) and we are ready to roll. Remember, if you click on the picture, it makes it bigger. We plan to hit the road south about 4am. I will let you know tomorrow night how we did. Based on the weather forecast it looks like we’re getting out of here just in time. Till tomorrow...

Texas 2018/2019

Nov 25, 2014 - Here we go again!

Hello to all! We are getting ready to head south again and by popular demand I will once again use this program to keep everyone informed on our travels and our stay in Texas. As always, you are welcome to opt out at any time and we will not feel hurt (too badly). We are in that fun period right not where we are stacking things up that need to go along and trying not to make too much of a mess in the living room because we are having about 20 people over for Thanksgiving Dinner. We are currently planning on getting on the way south on...

Raven Rambles

Apr 13, 2014 - Safely Home

Hi All, Sorry for the delay but things have been hectic since we arrived safely home on Thursday afternoon. We have managed to get the Raven unpacked and meet with all of the family and friends here in Kenosha. While it is once to be home, we miss all of our winter family from Bentsen Grove already. The afternoon cocktail hours are just not the same back here. We got back to beautiful weather on Thursday and Friday but Saturday afternoon and today are rainy. And worst of all tomorrow they are talking about SNOW showers. UGHH. This is the...

Jan 8, 2014 - Here We Go Again!

Well, here we go again... We are a little late this year in our migration south for the winter, but the time has finally come. We have had our fill of Wisconsin winter weather, we have finished up some business that came up and we are now getting ready to pull out. If all goes well, we hope to leave the Frozen Tundra this Saturday, the 11th. Due to several requests and comments, we will be publishing this blog on our travels so that our family and other friends that are interested, can follow along and keep up with our escapades. Along the...

Dec 13, 2013 - Departure

We kept waiting for it to get warm enough to load the rig and depart, but unseasonably COLD temperatures kept us sitting around watching the forecasts and outside weather at Kamp Katie. Thank goodness we had winterized the rig (the Chucklewagon, or "Chuck", as we call him -- and the low rumble of the diesel engine assures us the motorhome IS male) when we went to Hawaii. So with antifreeze in all our water lines, and his electric heaters turned on (while plugged into the 30 amp service installed in Katie's garage), 6 new Michelin truck...

Adventures in Chuck

Sep 20, 2013 - Safely Home

After Thinking about my comments yesterday, I thought that I needed to do one more update to end on a more positive note. Yesterday was a rough day driving. Anyway here is the wrap up. First you will notice the pictures of me updating our travel map that is on the side of our RV. It shows all of the states that we have visited and camped in, in an RV. On this trip we added four new states. South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota. We feel blessed that we have been able to visit so many beautiful places in this country. We hope to...

Aug 31, 2013 - Our next adventure!

Hello everyone, Linda and I are about to head out on our next big adventure with the Raven. This time we are heading west to see Mount Rushmore and then on to Yellowstone National park. I have had several people ask me if I would start another blog so they could keep track of us and so here we go again. I hope to make it interesting along the way with maybe a few good pictures to go with it. I hope you all enjoy it. If you are not interested just ignore the emails or unsubscribe from the journal. The picture is of our new tow vehicle....

Mar 31, 2013 - Safely Home!

Here we are, safely home on Friday afternoon about 2:30PM. Three months and three days, eight states, and about 3,500 miles all made up our winter journey with the new Raven trailer. The truck ran perfectly, except needing a new windshield in Texas. The Raven had a few shakedown bugs but in general it performed admirably and was a comfortable home for our Texas winter season. Bentsen Grove provided and safe and enjoyable location and the people we met have become like a second family. We made some improvements to our lot that we will enjoy...

Raven Rambles

Dec 25, 2012 - Finally on the Road!

The day has finally come to hit the Road! We got a good start and picked up the Raven at 7am this morning and then after some last minute packing and final checkout, we were on the road at 7:30. It was great driving in light traffic. We saw only two other RV's on the road today. We arrived at our planned stop in southern Illinois, for the night about 3pm only to find that we are now under a Blizzard warning with heavy snowfall and high winds for tonight and tomorrow. (and I forgot my snow shovel) We are expecting 6 to 10 inches of snow with...

Raven Rambles

Dec 18, 2012 - Its almost time...

Hello everyone, Well, its almost time to shove off. Its now less than a week. We hope to leave Kenosha on Christmas morning. That way we can go straight through Chicago without too much trouble. The weather man seems to be cooperating by forcasting clear weather for Christmas day. We have loaded the Raven with all but our items that could freeze. Those items we have in our living room in boxes. We will put those in the truck with us for the first travel day. After that we should have no trouble. The picture shows the Raven sitting in its...

Raven Rambles

Nov 21, 2012 - Still getting ready!

The furniture has been moved, a ton of stuff has been loaded, and we are getting very anxious to spend our first night in the new Raven. But...it will have to wait another 5 weeks from today (we hope). That is if Mother Nature is cooperative. For now. we keep putting things in the living room of the house that needs to go along and buying a couple of last minute items that we wanted to have for the new trailer. Would you believe that they don't even put in a toilet paper holder? I guess that is where the "roughing it" comes into play. :)...
