As new touring cyclist, we have learned our itinerary changes from day to day. It is one reason that we only booked rooms for the start and the end of our trip. The in between days change the morning we wake up based on how we feel, how the weather is, and how much time we need to get from place to place. Today was another good example. We had planned to ride from Sturgeon Bay to Whitefish Bay Farms B&B near Clark Lake where I spent many childhood days. It was 35 years ago that I introduced Ann to this area. Sep 12, 2011 - Cave Point

Today, we drove out to Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point County Park. We couldn’t launch the kayaks there so drove to a launch area nearby. Cave Point is neat because the geology consists of the Niagara Escarpment which is really old seabed that is being exposed and eroded by the waves and time. Apparently, at some point in Earth’s history, the Door Peninsula was at the equator – I don’t make this stuff up!
