Aug 22, 2006 - Kewaunee, MN
It was a short jaunt from Oshkosh to Kewaunee - only a 2 hour drive and a little less than 100 miles across more corn and soybean fields. We asked and found out that farmers plant soybeans or alfalfa or wheat to have the soil get back nutrients it needs to grow corn. After setting up camp, we rode around town. There are a couple of parks that are hard to get to and a lighthouse that people can walk to but no go in. The tugboat moored in the harbor was built in Kewaunee and used in WWII to pull a barge that supplied arms for the Normandy...

Aug 1, 2006 - Green Bay, Wisconsin
We arrived in Kewaunee just after 5pm on Monday afternoon. The town is about 29 miles directly east of Green Bay, and it looked like a nice lakeside location. As we drove through town, we noticed one thin which seemed a bit peculiar...we were the only people on the road! It seems that the town is weekend destination for Green Bay residents, so it's pretty much a ghost town during the week. Wisconsin was mid-heat wave at this point (we had escaped the heat up until this point by detouring through the U.P.). We spent a lot of time at the...

July 31 - Green Bay, Wisconsin Yes, this is home to the famous Green Bay Packers. Even passed by Vince Lombardi street. We awoke to very dark skies and at 8am they just let loose. It poured for 30 minutes afterwhich is was warm and muggy. We said our good-byes to Stan and Jerre and were on the road by 9am. We had seen huge line-ups at the border crossing during our lock tour, but luckily there was no line-up today. Gas was $3.049 per gallon as we entered the US. At $0.88 cents Canadian exchange my calculation put that at $0.94 per litre. I...

Door Peninsula and Lake Michigan We arrived here in Kewaunee Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. We had heard that the Door Peninsula is a beautiful place to see. Well, that was all we had to hear. They were right. For those of you who don't know, Door Peninsula is that little finger of land that juts out into Lake Michigan right across from Green Bay. We stayed at a really nice RV park and had several helping of Frozen Custard while we were there. We all headed up into the peninsula one day to do some site seeing. The Door Peninsula...

Aug 5, 2002 - Green Bay, Wi. & Lambeau (football - The Packers) Field
A great "timeout" in a wonderful town, but it is time to move on. Green Bay, and Lambeau Field beckons. Phil is like a little kid, he is so excited just to see this icon. No home games coming up, so we have to be satisfied with a tour, and a look at the Packers Hall of Fame. It is everything Phil had hoped for - saw the field, heard the history, sat in the Press box and Skyboxes, toured the well done Hall of Fame, and, of course, visited the "Pro Shop" for a souvenir! Even went to Bart Starr's Steakhouse for dinner - yum! Some Lambeau Field...
