It was an early departure from Fremont for the drive through Appleton and on into Green Bay. We pulled into the parking lot at Lambeau Field just before 10:00, walked in and paid for our tour, then wandered around the atrium while we waited till our 10:30 event. The tour starts in the atrium which was added in 2003 and houses a restaurant, arcade and the team offices. The next stop was in the biggest suite which is owned by Green Bay Packers Marketing. Today’s journey took us about 40 minutes SE of the campground to the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh to visit the Experimental Aircraft Association museum. It is a huge place with 2 separate complexes – the main museum has tons of displays in a newish building and then you can board a tram and go around the end of the grass runway to what they call the Pioneer Airport which is a replica of an old airport with 4 separate hangars filled with more old planes. Today was a drive day so there ain’t much to report. Sorry. The escape from Michigan got an early start – well, early for us anyway. We wheeled out of the campground in Curtis right at 9:30 and headed to westbound US-2 for a foggy trip along the west shore of Lake Michigan. Just before crossing into Wisconsin at Marinette, we merged onto Tamiami Trail – yep, we spent a good part of the day on US-41, the same one that starts in Miami as SW 8th Street, though the scenery was a bit different.
