Jun 17, 2018 - Fond du Lac, WI

We only had a 2 hour drive today, so Jay went bike riding in the morning and we planned on leaving around noon. We got some fuel before we hit the freeway again and then onto U.S. Highway 151 which took us almost to our destination. Although I always check the RV park reviews, we were pleasantly surprised to find such a nice place. The roads were nice and wide for maneuvering our RV and we ended up with a view of the small lake on the property. This is definitely the summer of the lakes. We are in the middle of a horrible heat wave with...

Sep 22, 2014 - Visiting with Sam III and Terena

Yesterday was great. We spent the morning drinking coffee, playing with the dog (Boston Terrier), and just talking non-stop. Then Sam and I went to do some shopping for things we'll need between here and home. In the afternoon, we went to “The Little Farmer” with Terena and Sam III. This is, to start with, an apple orchard. You can pick your own or you can buy them already picked. It is also allowed to wander through the apple trees and eat an apple straight from the tree, which we did. Really good, and the first time I had ever picked...

Sep 20, 2014 - Calgary to Fond du Lac

September 17, 2014 Driving yesterday and today was really easy. We were on the Trans-Canada Highway (highway 1) all the way yesterday and most of the way today. Pretty good road surface; very little traffic; straight as an arrow. But when we reached Estevan, where we are now, business really picked up. I gather that almost all of the campers in this Regional Park are oilfield workers. This is mostly rolling country with many tiny lakes or ponds but we saw no streams. Lots of waterfowl in the little lakes, but we didn't find a convenient...

Jul 21, 2012 - Fond Du Lac, WI

In Fon du Lac tonight. Saturday seems to be Bratwurst or Brat fry day in Wisconsin. Many of the towns along the way had a Brat Fry going. The group stopped at one that is among the best in Wisconsin. It wasn't the same without the beer, but we stopped at 10:30 AM.

Sep 10, 2011 - At Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin

We called ahead to Sam's grandson, Ben, who is working as an aide to one of the state representatives, and he took us on a tour of the state capitol building. Beautiful! And it was fun to see everything with someone who knows all the ins-and-outs. But before that, we were all starving, including Ben's boss, so we went to a little kiosk on the sidewalk across from the capitol and had great local sandwiches: some had meatballs and some had polish sausage—all were good, and it was fun to have lunch outside where it was sunny and COOL. Ben took...

Aug 19, 2011 - Fond du Lac, Friends and Fun Explorations

What could be more fun than to mix sightseeing and seeing “old” friends again? We got the fun of experiencing both today. We found out our pals, Jamie and Donna, were here in Wisconsin staying over in the Wisconsin Dells and we found the equidistant meeting point of Fond du Lac to share an enjoyable lunch together, visit and plan on the next reunion! Many of you may recall, we first met Jamie and Donna when we were still living in the San Antonio area and had the other RV, or Class C. We were all staying at Fiddler’s Cove in Coronado,...

Aug 9, 2007 - Noah's Ark Waterpark

Yesterday we went to Noah's Ark Waterpark in Wisconson Dells, WI. It is the largest waterpark in America. It was a BLAST! We all have the same favorite ride, Black Anaconda. It is the longest watercoaster in America. At the begining we went down a steep hill, then went up on a fast track/mat sort of thing. We went on a triple tube. The track/mat boosted us into a black tunnel which turned, then we came out, went down a hill, and up a different track/mat. We did this a lot of times. Another fun ride is the Sting Ray. It's like a halfpipe,...

Our big trip!

May 15, 2006 - Back home

Well, I'm back home - Lolo is on a plane to Boston right now. I've showered, used toilet paper and drunk tap water, which is nice to be able to do again. The one eventful thing that happened on the flight occurred somewhere over one of the "rogue states" to the South of Russia, when I was watching the flight map and noticed that we turned around and started going back to Delhi. I went to ask the flight attendants what was going on, and they didn't know. We looped around twice - very gently, and with no anouncement, and then continued on our...
