Jul 2, 2018 - Cornucopia, WI

We left around 9am and had a 3 hour drive to Cornucopia. The drive was really beautiful with trees everywhere and an occasional lake. Not much traffic too, which was nice. We stopped at Bad River Casino for lunch. Although the casino was small, the parking lot was big so it was easy to park the RV. Then we were off for the last hour of the drive to Cornucopia. When we drove through Ashland, we got our first view of Lake Superior. It was beautiful. Then we noticed that areas of the lake were red. Yes, red water. It looked beyond muddy and...

Aug 27, 2011 - Cornucopia

Yesterday morning greeted us with some more rain and overcast skies. It was a good day to do chores, so we drove 12 miles south to the town of Washburn where there is an IGA grocery store and an adjacent laundromat. We ended up doing seven loads of laundry at $2.50 a load to wash: pretty expensive. We met the gentleman who owns the laundromat who has lived in Washburn for 77 years. He worked several jobs locally to raise his kids who have all moved away. He talked about how much the area has changed over the years. He says he remembers when...

Pretty Damn Nice!

After breakfast we drove to Cornucopia using a back road the ranger had told us was pretty. There were tons of wildflowers in all the fields - yellow and white (daisys). We stopped at Meyers Beach (had to pay $1.50 parking with NP pass) and hiked through the woods to the top of the sea caves along the mainland. It was muddy in places and lots of bugs - we were glad we had the Off. We saw a snake in the path on the hike back. The sea caves were really pretty and worth the 4 mile roundtrip hike. We then drove to the other campground on the...
