Aug 22, 2012 - The Badger to Chippewa Falls WI

We decided that rather then drive around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan again or, even worse, drive through Chicago, to take the S. S. Badger across Lake Michigan from Ludington MI to Manitowoc WI. It was a four-hour, 60-mile cruise and truly a fun experience. The S. S. Badger is the largest car ferry ever to sail Lake Michigan, and has provided a safe, fun, and reliable shortcut across the huge inland sea for more than fifty years. The S.S. Badger is a national treasure, offering a cruise experience that links us to an earlier time when a...

While Tommy stayed at the campground this morning and relaxed, I drove approximately five miles into Chippewa Falls to attended the 10 a.m. service at Church of Notre Dame. It's called the Mother Church of the Chippewa...

May 13, 2011 - Chippewa Falls, WI

We got the motorhome back May 3 and went back to Fairmont. Farming was way behind due to all the snow and rain they had this year. We offered to help out, Jack drove the tractor to relieve a person that had to go to a real job. In total Gary and Linda planted about 900 acres of corn. They still have to plant sweet corn and soy beans now, but that can be done at a slower pace. I helped a little with some office stuff and mowing. We have arrived in Chippewa Falls, WI today to see some friends and relatives before moving on to Michigan.

Dec 13, 2010 - Record breaking snowfall in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Maybe I should start buying lottery tickets. The prize I won this week was winter memories of living in northern Wisconsin. We got 18"+ of snowfall, we broke 100 year records. This snowfall brought back many memories of living here in the north-land. I now recall why I decided to live my winters in the southwest. We just had to go out and play, "get milk". While we were at Walgreen's, I was driving around stock 4X4's getting stuck in the parking lots. However I finally did get stuck, when backing out of the driveway yet a second time...

Nov 10, 2010 - Trip to Wisconsin 2010

I'm heading WI, to visit a lifelong friend Brent. I'll stay there for a month. He has been having some problems with his health so I am there. The trip up went like clockwork, using the GPS along with cruise control was very comfortable driving. With an oil change, alignment and a tire rotation the truck drove and ran great. Ginger came along with me and unfortunately Karen had to work. Ginger is a very seasoned travel companion. I stopped along the way to take pics of the strange local creations of self expression. A grotto along the...

Aug 1, 2006 - 8-1-06

8-1-06 Today was pretty much a traveling day. We spun the ole camping wheel and ended up at Pine Harbor Campground by Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. We purchased several of Garrison Keillor's stories of Lake Wobegon and have enjoyed the humor, music, and heart pulling tales as we traveled. The weather continues to be wet and wild, so at this time I have decided to add miscellaneous pictures from our journey that may interest you. Did I mention how rough the roads are out here? Sandy and I are wondering everyday what will fall off from the...

Jun 15, 2006 - Baraboo, WI Circus Museum

From the Cheese Factory, we went off to a small town called Baraboo, WI which is the summer home of the Ringling Brothers circus. It was mildly interesting to see the displays and learn more about life under the big top. Too bad I always hated the circus! The two pictures of us behind the cardboard cut outs made the stop worthwhile, though. We had planned on spending tonight and tomorrow night in Wisconsin Dells until we arrived there and went to the information center. Seems that there is nothing there to do unless you like water rides and...

May 29, 2006 - Wisconsin

We left the St. Ignace area on Memorial Day and there wasn't a car to be seen on the road.) We drove lots and lots -- from Michigan, across Minnesota to Eau Claire WI. We hit Central time in Bark River MI and thus gained another hour-- for more driving. We spent the night in a less-than-super Super 8 and kept moving the car to well-lit areas in the parking lot, hopefully one step ahead of the ruffians and their six-packs. It worked since the car was still there in the morning. We slept well -- approximately half-way between the Equator and...
