Aug 5, 2015 - On to Wisconsin to see the Laubach's

Well Wednesday morning, after adding some fluid to and lubricating a sticky right rear jack on the RV we drove north from Illinois in Wisconsin to go to see Bob and Sally Laubach. Bob served on the USS Firedrake with Dick and was his senior disbursing clerk. Bob is assisting Dick with this year's Firedrake Reunion by receiving all the registrations and depositing the funds received. Our drive was uneventful with a very nice clear day and a chance to enjoy the Wisconsin scenery before arriving at the Laubachs. Bob had room in his driveway...

Jul 17, 2009 - Stabilizer Jacks Are Up – Let’s Go!

We decided to leave home a day earlier than originally planned. After having a quick dinner and loading the last few items in the trailer, we pulled out of the yard at 4:38 pm. We drove to Black River Falls and did a night of blacktop boondocking at the Majestic Pines Casino and Bingo. Easy to get to, relatively level parking spaces and the price was the kind we like – free! We took a walk into the casino, and it was so smoky that we turned around and left. When I crawled into bed, I realized just how much I “like” the RV queen size bed....

Jun 10, 2008 - First day on the Road

Well, we finally got on our way. We meet up with Larry and Carolyn Stover north of Bloomington, Ill around noon. We were a little late due to slow traffic on I70 and a heavy downpour around Indianapolis. Just the way to start off a long trip. We saw some of the worst flooding in the mid section of Wisconsin, especially around the Wisconsin Dells area. Almost up the I90/94 roadbed. About the same as Southern Indiana on June 8th! We made it to Black River Falls and camped at Parkland Village Campground. Remind myself not to stay there again....
