Jul 19, 2012 - We visited the Wisconsin Dells

We had heard of the Wisconsin Dells when we lived in Plymouth Minnesota in 1996 but did not visit. Our hosts suggested that we take a boat tour on the Wisconsin River to see the Dells. The Wisconsin State Capital is located in Madison. It is a beautiful building that the citizens of Wisconsin must be proud of. It has been preserved and renovated. It is the fifth capitol building. The campus was very impressive with the combination of old and new buildings as the University has grown to meet student and community needs. Also, for the college football fans, we got to go...

We drove from Green Bay to Pinegrove Campground, Arkdale, WI. We used this campground as a storage lot, so to speak, while we visited and stayed with our long time friends from college (1970) Pat and John Thiesenhusen. Pat and John were gracious hosts as they showed us around their Wisconsin. As they both attended University of Wisconsin located in Madison, they were great tour guides explaining what we were seeing as we drove from their home thru the farm lands (they both grew up on Wisconsin farms) to Madison to see the city, the...
