Oct 15, 2009 - Drove Until Dark
After stops in Rhinelander, Eagle River, Woodruff, and Ironwood we got to Bad River Casino right around dusk. After realizing that we had absolutely NO cell reception and no internet reception, we decided to continue on to Superior in the dark. ... After checking the truckstop page we grabbed the first Holiday station on Hwys 2 & 53 and called it a night.After stops in Rhinelander, Eagle River, Woodruff, and Ironwood we got to Bad River Casino right around dusk. FRIDAY, Oct 9 -- Left Red Wing for the short trip south to Wabasha. Continuing south we crossed into Wisconsin at Winona and headed east to the Wisconsin Dells. ... Brrrr! As far as the Dells is concerned, we're camping at the Wisconsin Dells KOA, just a few blocks north of the downtown area. ... We got to Ruth's home about 1pm and just in time, luckily she had left the key for us although she came in the door not more than 5 minutes later! A beautiful home, very cosey/warm and filled w/ antiques and memorabilia and Ruth's very own watercolors! We were duly impressed. We were fortunate enuf to arrive on the weekend when Cedarburg has its annual Artists Tour, so we strolled around the very neat downtown and checked out many of the local arts and crafts spots, chatting w/ artists and admiring their work. ...
