May 20, 2018 - More old friends and a little blip along the way. Wait - Daniel????

May 18 Friday AM we pulled the jacks and continued north on Rte 65 over undulating hills until reaching Springfield. We topped out at around 1,500’. Then it was east, mostly along US 60, to the Big Muddy separating MO and IL. Along this route you pass through various sections of the Mark Twain Ntl Forest with many apparent recreational opportunities. Missouri is very green and pretty this time of year. It reminded me of my annual sojourns to Columbia, MO to compete in the NRA Bianchi Cup National Action Pistol Championships. Good...

Another humongous day for me and another 500 miles finds me just outside of Wheeling WV at another Cracker Barrel. Do you see a pattern here? Cracker Barrel furnishes a safe marked off section for RV parking and they are always happy to have you stay the night. It's lit and quiet and after a long day's drive, I don't mind going in for an evening breakfast.

He will require radiation therapy and chemotherapy. His first oncology appointments are scheduled for July 11th. We will be arriving at Box Elder, SD on Saturday, July 9th. Hopefully, treatment will start shortly thereafter. He really has no...

Aug 31, 2007 - Wheeling, WV

The day started with very little sleep the night before as I tossed and turned with a major pain in my elbow. I had scraped my elbow somehow earlier that week and now my elbow was swollen and painful. It had started the day before, but got slowly worse. The pain was in such a place that I could not find a comfortable sleeping position. So Mark and Maggie didn't sleep much either. We woke up and found the closest urgent care (once again the travel gods were smiling on us as this was the first campground that had provided us a list of nearby...

May 16, 2006 - Larry's Bday & WV

I try to photograph the "Welcome to..." signs for the states as we cross the state lines, but sometimes it's difficult (photos taken through the windshield). When we were coming into Ohio, we saw the sign coming up, but there was a big truck in front of us and the road was really bumpy. After I snapped the shot and looked at it, the sign says "Welcome to O" (oops!). We passed Columbus, OH today along Interstate 70, in the rain. Lots of tall buildings, big city. We saw a CAT dealer from the highway, gotta get a picture of it. We stopped for...
