May 29, 2016 - Camping Shenanigans

We, along with Bobby, Leigha, Neil and Ella, left their home in Bridgeport, WV and headed about an hour away to where we parked the RV in Morgantown, WV to spend the night and let Bobby and family experience our camping. When we first got to Bobby's, Neil told us that we were just in time for the cicadas! I had no idea at the time what this invasion really looked like but once we got to campsite, you would not believe what the cicada arrival looked like!! They were EVERYWHERE, thousands and thousands, alive, dead, EVERYWHERE!! Apparently...

Just lots of driving again on the Interstate, we stopped into Camping World as we have been having issues with the battery so they checked it and found out it was bad so they replaced it for free after a phone call to Fort Myers Camping World. We wanted to drive on to Intercourse, Pennsylvania so I called to see if our spot was open and it was not so we ended up stopping in Morgantown, W Virginia at Nakheeta Campsite. We got the trailer all set up and went to Walmart to get some cash since right across the highway from the campground is a...

Our 2015 Fall Trip

May 29, 2015 - Morgantown, West Virginia

We are both awake early. We are at Tireland by 7:30. We catch the owners as they are coming in the door. The RV needs to go on the lift. They take us in first. Five hours later our fourth alignment is done. When we hit the pothole, we did not break anything. The alignment was way off. I should say way, way off. Make that WAY, WAY, WAY off! This was a really big pothole and we hit it hard! (The brakes were just due.) The highlight of our wait is lunch. Jersey Subs is in walking distance. The owners are originally from North Jersey. We spend...

We both slept but neither of us slept well. We are on the road early. We arrive at the dealership and realize that they will not be able to help us. They are a small dealership. We speak with the representative who recommends a place that can handle us. It is two miles away. Again, we are off. At Tireland, they agree to take a look at the front end but will not be able to fix anything until this afternoon. At least we will know what we are dealing with. Our passenger side brake is completely locked up. Great. They give us an estimate for a...

We leave the campground and enjoy breakfast out. As we sit down to eat, I chuckle. “What?” John asks. Out the window I can see into the service department of the Dodge dealership! Back on the road, we cross into West Virginia. Our next stop is Cabela’s. It is always a good store to visit. Again, we are back on the road. It is an interstate day. We head east and then south to Morgantown. Our next campground is two miles off interstate 68. We leave the interstate and are almost immediately on a country road. It seems like forever before we...

Sep 7, 2013 - Morgantown, West Virginia

September 7, 2013 Morgantown, West Virginia We had a very nice time at Jan and Bobs for the last 8 days. We mostly just sat around and visited. They asked if we wanted to see some things in the area but we have been here many times sightseeing so we just wanted to stay home and visit. We did go to the renaissance fair on Labor Day. I had a problem with one of my tires on the truck that I had looked at when we were in the Boston area; the guy said the tread was cut and was not repairable. I put the spare on to get me to Jan and Bobs. I...

Our first day out was around 200 miles north to Morgantown, WV. We stayed at a huge outdoor recreation facility with soccer and baseball fields, community center, etc. They were hosting an all day athletic event for around 8,000 people and there were cars and people everywhere! There was no one parked out in the RV area, though, so we had the place to ourselves.

We left the campground in New Jersey around 0625 and drove into Woodstown and refueled at the Sunoco Station. We got on the road about 0700 and headed for Morgantown, West Virginia. The toll over the Delaware Memorial Bridge was $20.00 and then we had to pay another $7.00 for the Delaware Turnpike, which must be the shortest turnpike in America. Traffic was moderate which we considered to be heavy for the Saturday morning. Traffic lightened up after get cleared the Baltimore 695 belt and headed west on Interstate 70. The western portion of...
