Jul 21, 2019 - Martinsburg WV, NahkeetaCampsite LLC

On the morning of the 21’st, we headed further north, our destination being Nakeetah Campsite just off I-81 in Martinsburg WV. Another sweltering day of travel. We pulled into the campground in the early afternoon and once again had a nice level pull through site with 50 amp service. But as evening approached, the weather changed as t-storms rolled in. We pulled the slide in and rode out the storm. There were several very big wind gusts and heavy downpour. After they passed, the temps had dropped about 20 degrees and the humidity was gone....

Nov 3, 2014 - First time at Walmart

Our first night was spent in the Walmart in Martinsburg, VA. We asked and were told to park way to the left of the store parking lot. We found a good spot where we could put out the 2 small slides. We went inside and bought some things and went back, started the generator and watched some TV. Joan didn't feel very comfortable staying there but we were OK. The problem was that many tractor trailers stay there as well idling the engines. There were also lots of trucks making deliveries as well. So, we may not do that again! Back on the road at...

Jul 28, 2012 - Final thoughts on our Trip out West 2012

Even though we arrived home on Saturday, July 7th, today is the 1st day I am able to sit down and reflect on the trip. As you may have noticed, the last week in Wyoming and our trip back our thoughts were limited. We were just so damn busy with class, and traveling back we did not take the time you deserve to reflect on the trip. Additionally, we have been busy catching up since getting home. Today I just finished cutting the grass and cleaning up trees and limbs brought down during a storm we had while we were in Wyoming. I took "Big D" on...

Jan 4, 2011 - Getting Ready

Happy New Year to all of our Friends who will be traveling with Cindy, Ed, John C., and Virginia looking for warmer weather in January. Virginia will join us later in Wilmington, NC when she flys in from Pittsburgh. Lucy is waiting patiently as we get her loaded, packed, repacked and ready to go. We will have a TOAD, which is Cindy's Car being towed behind Lucy. This will allow us to travel to and from our campsite/s or Walmart, or someone's driveway without moving the bigger vehicle. (Photos 1 & 2 shows the equipment we had acquired and...

May 29, 2010 - USA and Home

Our flight from London to Dulles was on-time and a wonderful way to fly. The Limo was awaiting us and we arrived home about 10 PM. Virginia did not rest well on the flight and was exhausted. We were quite disappointed that our bathroom was about 50% completed. Never believe a contractor as to when they will finish the job. His claim was that he saw a bear last Saturday near Harpers Ferry, WV, went into the field to photo it and the bear thought he and his girlfriend got too close. Result was he did not work on the bathroom for about 8 days....

May 10, 2010 - Planning from Martinsburg, WV

Hi Everyone: We are in the final stages of getting ready for the trip (each in our own way, as you'll see). Exciting things surrounding this trip are the number of celebrations it represents: Cindy's Retirement, Cindy's mom going along (a good thing), and our 20th wedding anniversary which is later this year (meaning Ed doesn't have to take a seperate big cruise line trip for the anniversary). We are venturing into the River Cruise segment of our travels and going to beautiful places in Western Europe; Switzerland, Germany, France, The...

Oct 18, 2008 - Martinburg, W Va

We took another drive on Saturday and went to Martinsburg, W Va. Had lunch, went to a movie, had popcorn and then drove back to campground. Not much else but had to make the drive to say were were there. Sort of a rest day too, needed it after all we'd done in DC. When we got home, found that the refrig wasn't working. We had already made reservations for Williamsburg and can't cancel or loose our deposit so we're leaving for there Sunday. There is a RV dealer up street from them so will see if they can find out what's going on. Keep...
