Diesel-$3.88/gal-Hillsville, VA at a Gulf Truck stop. 299 miles and we didn't take the Ryno Route :-) Getting here was a trip---many many miles of ups, downs, and curves :/ Bama did very good though. Went through two long tunnels in West Virginia (I think). Very disappointed when we got here. We (I) was expecting great things based upon a review by another blogger. Jul 11, 2009 - W. Virginia Impressions

Too much to see and not enough time - Saturday, July 11 Today we drove 40 miles out of our way to see a little more of West Virginia before we leave it. On the way we visited touristy places like Seneca Rocks and Blackwater Falls - impressive enough but not the things we’ll remember most. The impressions that stay with us will be of simpler things - smaller rocks, and woods and bogs. Wild rhododendrons, weathered shacks. and a black bear galloping across the road. Not a lot of money in West Virginia. You can buy a fixer upper pretty cheap....

2009 Spring 2 Fall

Sep 27, 2007 - Grafton, WV to Blackwater Falls State Park, WV

(Ron Writing) We had some wild weather during the night. There was continuous lightning and thunder for several hours and lots of rain but we were snug in Da Honu and not the least bit bothered by it. We awoke to a very foggy morning but by the time we had breakfast and were ready to go on our way, it was sunny and beautiful outside.
