Today was another rainy, overcast day in Oregon and Washington…just like yesterday and the day before! But improvements are coming here and also to central California. So tomorrow will be good traveling weather when we head south. We took a quick tour of Portland this morning and afternoon. We walked around the downtown area for about 90 minutes and ate at the congregation of food carts that take up a city block. It’s nice, for a change, to see a vibrant downtown area.

Apr 17, 2012 - Washougal

Today was another rainy, overcast day in Oregon and Washington, but we still managed to get in a nice trip to Multnomah Falls and the Bonneville dam and fish hatchery along the Columbia River. Herman the Sturgeon at the hatchery was an unbelievably HUGE fish! Multnomah Falls was magnificent! We both enjoy waterfalls, and these were extremely high. We walked to the footbridge but didn’t go further because of the weather and because the trail was closed near the top due to a landslide. (At least, that’s what we’ll tell people – we may not...

Apr 16, 2012 - Tallahassee to Washougal

Our trip began uneventfully – a great thing! Our flight from Tallahassee to Atlanta left 15 minutes late but arrived 15 minutes early in Atlanta. (Great scheduling, Delta!) Our 5½ hour flight to Portland was a little less than 5 hours, and Mike’s sister, Kathy, and her husband, Mark, were there to meet us. Overcast skies and occasional sprinkles of rain kept us from seeing Mt. Hood or Mt. St. Helens, but maybe we’ll get another chance.
