After getting Jill married on Sunday, August 18, 2019, we packed up the RV and headed to our McKenzie Int'l Travel Club Rally in Silverton, OR at Silver Spur RV Park. This is a five day stay with our great friends in this club. We celebrate 20 years as a club this year and our wagon masters, Fine's and Barr's have some great things and food planned.

Jul 20, 2019 - The wedding

The big day is here. First we meet the grandkids and their parents for breakfast, then we headed to the Farmer’s Market for a few hours. Then it was back to the rv to get ready for the wedding. The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding. The venue was at a ranch, owned by a retired firefighter. The wedding was held out by a pond while the reception was inside of a barn. Everything was absolutely beautiful. The ceremony was performed by Brett’s Uncle Dan. He did a great job. During the ceremony, they tied a fisherman’s knot. It was a...

Jul 19, 2019 - Rehearsal day

Today is rehearsal day for the happy couple. We went to Lynne and George’s house for a visit and lunch. Jaime, Eric, Zach and Olivia made it as well. The four of them got to swim, Dakota got to play with Brett and some of his Best Men and Scott and I visited with the rest of the family. Later the wedding party headed to the venue for the rehearsal and we went back to the RV to rest and get cleaned up for the dinner. Lynne and George hosted a great dinner at the local Mexican restaurant. There was a lot of food, drinks and fun. The second...

Jul 6, 2019 - Chile Eclipse...UPDATE FROM KRYSS & TALAAT

Eclipse day dawned clear with blue skies. There was mist and cloud over the sea but we were told that was always true in the mornings. We packed the car with our eclipse day items and waited. Dave Wetherall joined us. He had been with us in Indonesia in 2016; he was in town and he needed a ride. At 8:40 we set off for the 30km ride to the village of Caleta del Hornos. We were there in 30 minutes. The parking areas near the village entrance were taken but we managed to find a spot 100m away by the school. Talaat had had her breakfast but I...

April 29, 2019 Another beautiful day in the PNW, which rarely has been our experience when visiting Vancouver. Basically hanging out doing laundry and fixing odds and ends in the rig. Went down to the Columbia River Front to have lunch at Beaches. Had a very feisty waitress who was fun. Pizza, salads and beers. We were even given a bag of caramel corn when we left. Some grocery shopping on the way home at Chuck’s. Interesting, the owners are Seventh Day Adventists and the store is not open on Saturdays. Made our salmon/cucumber/red onion...

Apr 28, 2019 - Vancouver, WA

April 28, 2019 Another crisp, cool and sunny morning! Today we drive to Vancouver, WA which will be our second longest (280 miles) drive of the trip. We will visit our dear friends, Richard and Jackie, who we met in LA 40 years ago. Richard was a food broker (and excellent cook) and Jackie a paralegal that took the aerobic class I was teaching at the YMCA. They invited me (and my husband!) for dinner. Even back then we were fussy about wine and insisted on bringing some. Richard would not hear of it for the same reason! We both had great...

Travel day today for the most part. Day began with an awesome bike ride along the Sacramento River and over the Sundial Bridge. Fantabulous scenery and one butt busting hill in the middle. Redding is a biker's paradise. Absolutely beautiful bike trails. Hit the road at 11 going up I-5 northbound. Gorgeous country with beautiful trees, lakes and rivers and, of course, majestic Mt Shasta which is still covered in snow. Breathtaking really. Stopped for lunch at a rest stop near Mt Shasta and had another incredibly good salmon salad....

Traveling I-84 to I-205 and HOME. Good day traveling with no gorge winds. We are blessed to be able to travel and enjoy this great country and I am thankful to Dale for making it happen each year. Our journeys have taken us to some awesome places, meeting wonderful people and enjoying the cuisine of the area. The highlight of the trip this year was definitely visiting WACO, TX. Hope to return.

Winter 2018

Sep 6, 2017 - New Car Vancouver

We had a great day today. We have been looking for a new Honda for the last few months. We wanted one that already had the tow equipment on it so we didn’t have to have it all installed on the new one. We finally found the perfect car in Vancouver, Washington and picked it up today. Yippee! It had $4,000 worth of tow equipment that looks way better than what we had on our old Honda. It is a 2014 CRV. We were going to buy a newer model, we found out that 2014 was the last year they made Hondas that could be towed with the motorhome. They...

Jun 9, 2017 - Eugene, OR through Columbia River Gorge to the Dalles to Vancouver, WA

It was sprinkling when we left at 7:20 am. Throughout the day, it would sprinkle, then rain a bit harder, and there were some sunny times. We paid 2.38 for gas in Salem after our 5 cent per gal discount at Pilot. We hit Portland around 9:10 am. Traffic was sort of heavy, but not as bad as I expected, and not as bad as it would have been earlier. The city is pretty. By exit 13 of I-84, we were still in 3 lanes of traffic in both directions, and we passed our first of several chain up areas. We passed the Columbia Gorge Outlets, and even...

May 7, 2017 - Vancover, WA

Drove up to Mt Saint Helen. The devastation that the volcano caused when it erupted in 1980 was beyond anything one could imagine. Lives lost, a lake completely disappeared with all structures on it and people that remained with their property. The dust effected airplane travel around the world. It all started with a series of earthquakes. Not that we are worried now, but on the news this morning there were three earthquakes last night in the islands that we will be visiting in a few days. On our drive to Mt Saint Helen we came across a...

Apr 2, 2017 - Vancouver RV Park

One last stop at Wally world to load fridge with forbidden butter at discount prices and northward we continue. Today was a treat driving with no wind, bit of cloud and temps trying to reach the 70s, didn't make it. Took the bypass around Portland/Vancouver and ended at an old favorite park of ours. KFC 100yds away so may have an idea of what we are eating tonight. Hard to believe over 3 months has passed since we left, a lot has happened, missed a few things, but another most enjoyable trip is drawing to a close. Have a few ideas for a...
