Apr 29, 2016 - Olympia, Washington
While we were in Shelton we took a day trip to Olympia to go to the movies and visit St Martin's Univiersity where I went to college. The school is much larger than when I went there. Many of the buildings from my day do not exist, and many new buildings have been constructed. I don't know the numbers for sure, but I would say the number of students has increased 10 fold or more.

Apr 28, 2016 - Shelton, Washington
We drove to Shelton, Washington and stayed at the Elks Club. While there we visited with Jim and Sharron Dok. We met them when they first showed a basset hound. We showed them the ropes. They are now big time in the Basset World and Jim is on the board of directors for the American Kennel Club. From San Diego they moved a few times and ended up in Shelton, Washington where they have a beautiful house right on Pugent Sound. We ate dinner at their house and spent an evening getting reaquianted.

Aug 4, 2014 - Running an Errand
The three of us went back to the Narrows Bridge yesterday for a stroll. We walked to the center and back just to enjoy setting. It was fun to return without the need to run in the race. Today I needed to drive to Shelton, the farthest west city in Puget Sound, to pick up a prescription. Why Shelton you ask? That’s complicated, but it has to do with the only places where I can get a 90 day supply. Anyway it is about an hour drive from Gig Harbor to Shelton through some nice lake country. Annie joined me and we set out with the idea of adding...

May 19, 2013 - West Side of Hood Canal
Days 74-76 of The Big Trip May 17 was our sixth day of rain some part of the day. Fortunately, it was a misting rain, so getting disconnected and on the road wasn't unpleasant. We were US101 going east for a few miles and then it turned south. We were on the east side of the Olympic National Park and still couldn't see much because of rain, fog and clouds. For a lot of miles, we drove along the edge of the Hood Canal, which is a fjord forming the western end of Puget Sound. It was gorgeous and, on a bright, sunny day, would be spectacular....

Sep 27, 2012 - Port Angeles to Shelton
We drove from Port Angeles to Shelton, a distance of 94 miles. We are now 1973 miles into our journey. Port Angeles is our Northern most destination, and now we turn south for the second leg of our journey. We have another 1553 miles to travel for our first month of 'wintering' in Casa Grande, Arizona. We will stay here in Shelton for about a week, rest up, and see a few of the sites in the area. Please stay tuned! Mike and Nancy

May 28, 2012 - On to the next casino!
Monday, the 28th about 4:00 pm. Just checked in to Little Creek Casino about 5 miles south of Shelton, Washington. I left the motorcycle races about a half an hour ago because it was cloudy, cold and spitting rain. They were half way through the last race of the weekend - a 6 hour endurance race, but I couldn't endure it any longer! Now that I'm at the casino however (about 15 miles south of the track) the sun's out and the perpetual west wind has died down! All in all it was great racing. These guys (some as old as me) were hitting 160...

May 27, 2012 - Motorcycle Races
OK, I'm not sure what date this is, but it's Sunday, so I think it's May 28th. I'm at a new racetrack near Shelton, Washington. I got here yesterday around 3:00 pm after lugging the trailer from Burlington through Seattle and Tacoma. Here it was, Saturday about noon and for 50 miles before Seattle and after Tacoma, it was like a 12 lane parking lot! I can't imagine what rush hour is like around here. It didn't help that I missed the stupid Express Lanes sign in Seattle. In the 20 or 30 times I've been down I5, I've caught the express lane...

Sep 7, 2011 - Talk about a Rough Road
Today is moving day. After spending 2 weeks here in Blaine, we are going to go south and west of Seattle to the Olympic Peninsula. We are going about 196 miles to a State campground along the eastern coast of Olympic Peninsula. We can’t make reservations; it is first come first serve. We think that we shouldn’t have too much trouble getting a site now that Labor Day is over. We have enjoyed our stay here, but both of us feel it is time to move on. It has been so nice not to be moving every few days, but it looks like we will be staying 2-4...

Jul 3, 2008 - July 3-July 12 Visited Family in Shelton Wa.
Arrived Shelton Wa. about 6:30, at my sister Jean and John's house. They had a real nice spot for us to park our trailer with a beautiful view of the water(with seals). We were greeted by my older sister Jan running up the driveway flapping her arms all over the place in excitement followed by Jean (my youngest sister). A few min later another sister Sue showed up with their camping trailer and parked right next to us. She was greeted by me running up the drive flapping my arms. Oh it was so nice to see the family again. We are going to do...

Aug 19, 2006 - Shelton, Washington
At Olympia I picked up US 101 which goes around the Olympic Peninsula and down the Pacific coast to California. I made a few stops along the way, including Shelton to pay a quick visit to the Mason County Historical Museum and the visitor center in front of the Post Office where there is a restored logging train. I stopped at a pretty scenic view point to have lunch and then continued north to Sequim (pronounced "Skwim") to spend the night at Rainbow's End RV Park. It's a good thing I called them to make reservations because I got the last...
