Sep 24, 2011 - Trip to Republic
Today we took a motorcycle trip to Republic, WA and back to Spokane. Off a little later than I wanted at 10am, but Bon was willing to head out with me for maybe our last ride for the 2011 season. It's like 90 degrees today. In September? I saw two other couples from the neighborhood also heading out on their motorcycles. We rode through Ford to Springdale, then west to Hunters. The area has turned brown this late in the summer. Can't forget the phone call to Bonnie's mom, made in Springdale. The valley between Springdale and Hunters is...

Aug 13, 2011 - close to 360 miles
I guess we were excited about getting an early start. on the road by 8:15am heading north to Republic to Preston & Kays cabin. East on I-90 there wasn't any food places for 28 miles then north on St-21 for another 38 miles without breakfast. So in Odesa we were happy to find a bar with a restrant. Friendly family owned who served more food than we could eat (no matter how hungry we were)Our next stop was at Keller Ferry to get accross Lake Roosevelt. Once loaded it only took about 15 minutes to cross. smooth & easy ride! Another 58 miles to...

Jul 28, 2009 - Ghost towns & Ranald MacDonald
After dinner last night we talked to our next door neighbors who turned out to be retired judges from CA. We asked if they knew of a good storage facility for our RV while we spending some time in October with the McCaigs at their house in Palm Desert, CA. The couple offered to let us store the RV at their site in one of the upscale campgrounds in Indio (just down the freeway from Palm Desert). They said the site would be sitting empty. Wow - very nice and a potential problem solved. Drove a loop north of Republic today through 3 “ghost”...

Jul 27, 2009 - Drive to Republic WA
We had a pretty drive from Sandpoint, ID to Republic, WA. A BIG grizzly ran across the road in front of us in the Colville National Forest at 1pm - if we had hit him he definitely would have finished what the deer started in MT. As usual, we also saw several deer along the way. It is very hot in Republic - over 90F today, at least it isn’t very humid. We spent the afternoon grocery shopping and at the RV talking to other campers and the RV park owner.

Feb 7, 2009 - Curlew Lake State Park
September 2008 George and I, along with Corki our dog, took our 5th wheel to Curlew Lake State Park near Republic, Washington. It's a beautiful park with huge expanses of lawn and shade trees. Fishing was great, George caught about 6 nice trout. There is a dock or you can use your own boat, which we did. There is even a fish cleaning station by the dock. The weather was perfect. If there is a downside to this park, it's that they don't accept reservations so it's a first come first served. You may or may not get a full hookup site.

Sep 9, 2008 - Republic, WA - Sherman Pass NF CG
(Ron Writing) This morning we left Colville, WA heading west on WA-20. We crossed the Columbia River at Kettle Falls, WA and continued west on WA-20 climbing high into the mountains of the Kettle River Range in the Colville National Forest. Highway 20 follows Sherman Creek which drains the east side of this range into the Columbia River. Along the way we spotted a sign for the Sherman Creek Orchard directing us just a mile off the highway. We found this 50-acre orchard selling all sorts of freshly picked fruit. We got a variety of apples,...
