Jul 28, 2011 - Day 15: Take a Hike!

The first stop of the day was at the information center for the Olympic National Park. The lady behind the counter highly recommended the Staircase Trail. We weren't disappointed. The entire trail was beautiful...from the stream, to the Douglas fir and western cedar of immense proportions, to the ferns and moss, unexpected birds...American dipper; Oregon junco, osprey on a nest in the tippy-top of one of the tall trees. Jul 27, 2011 - Day 14: Leaving Clatskanie, OR

The final "good-bye's" were said about ten-thirty this morning to Kelley, and Ethan, and "C"..a foster child. Don and Kelley usually have at least one, sometimes two or three, foster children. They are wonderful foster "parents". We headed north from the Oregon/WA boundary at Longview, on I-5, then northwest on 101. We are north of Olympia about two and half hours. The water in view out the windshield is Hood Canal. It is sea water, the tide has gone out since we arrived this afternoon. We chose to stay two nights. We want to look around...
