Jun 13, 2009 - Lake Quinault

We wore the dogs out, then headed up to Lake Quinault with Ruth and Lee. This is a national rain forest and really breathtaking. We did a hike through the woods, then headed to the largest spruce tree in the world, which was pretty impressive. Charlie made his own version of oyster stew and turkey burgers.

Jun 11, 2009 - Quiet Pacific Beach

Since Lee is retired Air force, we were able to camp here. The site was a regional headquarters for training Navy and Air Force anti-aircraft recruits during WW II, then was redeveloped is part of Fleet and Family Readiness. The campground sits high on a cliff overlooking a quiet beach. The town is small with only a couple of shops. At night all we hear is the ocean. Charlie has had some nice bike rides on the beach, and the dogs have enjoyed it as well, since it is littered with dead crabs, various kinds of shells, and other interesting...

Sep 25, 2007 - Pacific Beach, WA

AFter spending four days in Forks and two days on Victoria, BC we moved camp down the West Coast to Pacific Beach, WA and the US Navy's REsort and Conference Center RV Campground. Becky is a Retired Major in the US Army where she served as a nurse for over 20 years and Dick is a Retired Captain in the US Navy so we were eligible to use the facilities. This part of the trip was intended to just be a place to relax and perhaps visit a few local spots. George and Becky spent two nights there with us before saying good-by and heading back to...
