Jun 17, 2013 - Quinault Casino - Ocean Shores, Washington
June 17th We're camped at Quinault Casino, Ocean Shores. Another free campground, hey every little bit helps. They have a very large rocked area for camper. It's away from the casino by a good two blocks well I think you could make it three or four depending on where you park. The ocean isn't to far away, I haven't had time to find a path yet. It started raining right after dinner and it doesn't sound very good out there

Sep 15, 2012 - Ocean Shores
Saturday, Deb and Jakob came to visit. We headed out to the beach with all the beach toys. Made sand castle, with a moat around them and then flooded the moat. The tide was on the way in so our castle was eventually swamped and damaged beyond repair. As we headed back to the camp we stopped again to play in the softer, drier sand and then saw the truck get stuck in the sand. Checked on him and he had someone coming who could pull him out. Deb decided to spend the night and head down to Grayland with us tomorrow. Phoenix is not sure about...

Sep 12, 2012 - Ocean Shores / Duck Lake
We were told that Ocean Shores was a nice beach community to visit, and so we had to check out the beach for our morning walk. It is a very busy vacation place, and tourists were everywhere........except the beach! The wind was blowing, there was a chill in the air, but we managed to walk a little over two miles. Honey?, we ain't in Southern California any more! This was our first beach in Washington, and so far it was nothing compared to the fabulous beaches of the Oregon Coast. But, we have many beaches to see here in...

Jul 15, 2012 - It's all in the name
Ocean Shores, WA You know how after a rainstorm everything looks so nice and clean? That is a pretty permanent condition in the Olympic Rainforest. Annual precipitation averages about 220". That is over 18 FEET! The rainforest is at Lake Quinault and there is a loop “road” around the lake. A major portion of this road is heavily pot-holed, gravel or hard-packed dirt, and one-lane wide with two-way traffic. Naturally we loved it. The road goes past several waterfalls, all of which are either unmarked or poorly marked. The trails leading to...

Jul 14, 2012 - Ocean Shores
Ocean Shores, WA We spent the day wandering around the town in which we are staying – Ocean Shores. Ocean Shores is a 6 mile long peninsula so we had plenty of beaches from which to choose. We found a number of shells, were mesmerized by the waves, and found tons of sea gulls and pelicans. We poked in a number of shops, chatted with a Nebraska transplant, played some miniature golf and did some laundry. We ended our day enjoying Irish music and a meal at Galway Pub. Their potato soup was very thick and creamy and had an interesting extra...

Jul 13, 2012 - A bird's eye view
Ocean Shores, WA One cannot leave Astoria without climbing the Astoria Column, a tower overlooking the mouth of the Columbia River. Built in 1926,the 125' tall column has a 164-step spiral staircase ascending to an observation deck at the top. One can see the world from up there, or at least one could on a clear day! There is the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Columbia River to the north, the snow-capped volcanoes of the Cascade Range to the east and Saddle Mountain to the south. We have to take their word for the latter two but we could...

Nov 17, 2011 - Ocean Shores and Forks Washington
After leaving Seattle and picking up the RV in Kent all looking new with a wash and many of the items fixed on board that were under warranty we headed out around 2pm to finally see the Pacific Ocean and have a couple of days along the shoreline and explore the pacific coast of Washington and the very Northwest tip of the Continental United States. A very easy run from Kent to Ocean Shores of 119 miles and luckily no snow along the way although chilly at 35 degrees along the way with some drizzling rain. Got to Ocean Shores to Ocean Mist RV...

May 9, 2010 - Ocean Shores, WA
We left Oregon on Sunday, May 9th. Dan and Dee headed to Chehalis, WA, and we continued our journey up the 101 into Northern Oregon. The Pacific Coast Highway continued to give us beautiful views along the coast and at one particularly long, open view to the water we both shouted at the same time, “there’s a whale”! All we saw was his back and then his tail before he was completely submerged, but it was thrilling just the same. It was time for a break, so a little further north we pulled over at a scenic overlook and continued to marvel at...

Oceana & Ocean Shores, WA – August 25-September 2, 2009 Temperature - 60’s – Partly Sunny We moved about two miles today to Oceana Resort for one night. The resort was within walking distance to the beach so we spent some time enjoying the ocean. The next day we moved back to Ocean Shores RV Park in Ocean City, WA. We parked in the trees and for the entire week we had no one near us. It felt like we were camping in the wilderness. We used the spa and played billiards and basketball. Debbie did some quilting and we went to the beach a few...
