Jan 27, 2018 - Ocean Shores, WA

1-27-18 Ocean Shores, WA Today’s adventure has Julie and I traveling to Ocean Shores, WA because we have heard it’s a neat place to go. I told my friend Chuck, who is from around here, about our plans. He said that there are “impressive waves” there this time of year and we would enjoy ourselves. He said this with a grin… The north Pacific in the winter time can be exciting but what the heck. Sounds like fun. We left Monroe, WA at around 10AM in a pretty good rain shower. The trip went surprisingly fast under the circumstances. We reached...

Jun 23, 2017 - Olympic Peninsula Day 2

Today we are half way through our vacation. We finished up touring Washington's Olympic Peninsula by visiting Olympic National Park. The park gives you the feeling that you are very high in elevation when in reality the highest we were was just over 5,000 feet. I guess that's pretty high considering the mountains are starting at sea level. The park is full of great vistas, some nice waterfalls and a beautiful blue lake. We saw a doe and two fawns, a doe and one fawn and a single doe. We left the park and continued down the pacific coast to...

Jun 10, 2016 - Ocean Shores Festival of Colors

A Kite Festival June 3-5, 2016 This is an event that happens every summer on the beach at Ocean Shores. It was the first time I attended. Mary Anne was at a convention in Spokane. So I took Nick and went to the Coast for the week-end. I had a reservation to stay at the Sunrise Resorts RV Park in Copalis Beach. It was the first time I’ve stayed there, though we drove-through it about a year ago. When I was setting-up the RV in my site, the new leveler system stopped working! I was able to get the RV leveled, but was pretty sure I wasn’t...

Aug 25, 2013 - Grey Harbor near Ocean Shores and trip to Seabrook, WA

We drove to Grey Harbor, a large harbor south of Ocean Shores. We ended up at North Jetty at the entrance to Grey Harbor from the Pacific Ocean. We found a couple getting married with the Pacific as their backdrop. The driftwood was plentiful. As wer Pelicans, we have never seen so many pelicans in one place before. There were hundreds if not a few thousand of them on the end of the jetty. They decided to fly at the same time, what a sight. We drove up Washington Highway 109 up the coast to a new (2004) small beach community Seabrook that...

Aug 21, 2013 - Ocean Shores Sunset

While we have seen many magnificent sunsets in our travels, this one was special, it is the first one we have seen on the North Oregon and South Washington coast since we have been here. This coast line is noted for it's sunsets, because of the coastal fog and clouds late in the day not many sunsets.

Aug 20, 2013 - Oceana TT beach, Ocean City and Quinault Casino

In Ocean Shores, we are only a couple hundred yards from the beach. At Seaview TT the beach trail was obvious. Here we (Mike) looked for it, found a trail not worn by lots of traffic, thinking this was it, we walked to the beach through tree branches, weeds, etc. about half way there we found the real trail. There was a sculpture in the weeds near the beach that was made from objects that have e washed up on the shore, we saw a kite flying. The kite was anchored to the ground. We saw another one that had crashed and the wind had covered it...

Jun 17, 2013 - Quinault Casino - Ocean Shores, Washington

June 17th We're camped at Quinault Casino, Ocean City. Another free campground, hey every little bit helps. They have a very large rocked area for camper. It's away from the casino by a good two blocks well I think you could make it three or four depending on where you park. The ocean isn't to far away, I haven't had time to find a path yet. It started raining right after dinner and it doesn't sound very good out there. We took in the town of Aberdeen, not much to see. Found the path to the beach. I had to walk way south then across the...

Sep 15, 2012 - Ocean Shores

Saturday, Deb and Jakob came to visit. We headed out to the beach with all the beach toys. Made sand castle, with a moat around them and then flooded the moat. The tide was on the way in so our castle was eventually swamped and damaged beyond repair. As we headed back to the camp we stopped again to play in the softer, drier sand and then saw the truck get stuck in the sand. Checked on him and he had someone coming who could pull him out. Deb decided to spend the night and head down to Grayland with us tomorrow. Phoenix is not sure about...

Sep 12, 2012 - Ocean Shores / Duck Lake

We were told that Ocean Shores was a nice beach community to visit, and so we had to check out the beach for our morning walk. It is a very busy vacation place, and tourists were everywhere........except the beach! The wind was blowing, there was a chill in the air, but we managed to walk a little over two miles. Honey?, we ain't in Southern California any more! This was our first beach in Washington, and so far it was nothing compared to the fabulous beaches of the Oregon Coast. But, we have many beaches to see here in...
