Aug 6, 2011 - Day 67 - Back to Mt. Baker

Stayed home for 2 days after we went to Olympic National Park. Then today we went back to Mt. Baker because they opened the Visitor Center for the first time at Heather Meadows. We took a different road and enjoyed the views of the snow covered mountains. We followed the road as far as it would go up to about 4000'. The road goes higher, but wasn't cleared yet and they are withing 6 weeks of the expected first snow up there. As you can see from the pictures it was beautiful. People were snowboarding. It seemed to be the destination point...

Jul 19, 2011 - Day 49 - Mt. Baker

Left the RV today about 10:30 and headed up to Semiahmoo Park about 5 miles from camp. The museum is only open Friday through Saturday, so we will have to go back. The first sign headed to the beach is the warning not to eat the fish. We walked the beach and enjoyed looking at all the rocks and shells along the beach. Not a swimming beach for sure even if it was 100 degrees! We stopped at looked at the Iron Chink machine that was used to process 30,000 salmon a day. It was patented in 1905.
