Oct 19, 2012 - Day 10 - Tulalip Casino
Made a wet 60 mile trip back south as far as the Tulalip Casino where we will have dinner and spend the night. We are parked out back in the RV parking area. Tomorrow morning we will fuel up and head back to Lake Pleasant. Monday Arlyene starts her radiation treatments. Seven weeks, five days a week so we won't be going much of anywhere. Actually, come to think of it, we are closer to the treatment center here than we are in Bothell. Hmmmmmm. I am not much tempted by the Casino, I hate losing money, but the Cabelas next door is another...

Sep 21, 2012 - Marysville, WA
Had work to do so we didn’t leave the Riordans until nearly 10:00. Will be another hot (90s )day in WA but no rain. The air was very hazy as we headed out Highway 84 on the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge. We learned that there were significant fires in the Bend area. The air was so thick that we couldn’t see the cliffs, mountains or across the river. Lovely dense, green firs along the way though. Our first stop was the Bonneville Lock and Hydropower Dam, a National Scenic Area managed by the National Park Service We stopped two years ago...

Jul 8, 2012 - Marysville, Washington
7/8 A drive of 111 miles (US2, I-5) brought us to the Tulalip Casino in Marysville, Washington. The highlight of the day was a trip to the Verizon store where we made a giant technical advancement by purchasing a new phone. Yes, the Tarkins now have the capability of doing many strange things on their phone, in addition to placing phone calls. Although there now appears to be no need to make phone calls, we can simply talk to our IPhone and she will talk back! Before we left in the morning we took a drive to Everett, Washington to take a 90...

May 29, 2011 - Marysville, WA - Lunch with Our "e-friend" Gisela
(Ron Writing) This morning we worshiped at Parkway Presbyterian Church not far from where we spent the night. Pastor Ron Ganzer is an excellent preacher and the congregation is friendly and welcoming. After church we drove over to our “e-friend” Gisela’s home in the Parkwood area of Tacoma, WA. Our friend John told his sister Gisela about our travel journal a couple years ago and since then she’s been reading it and we’ve exchanged so many emails with her we felt like we were getting to know her quite well. Today was the first time we met...

August 27, 2010 day 83 Cache Creek, BC to Marysville, Wa We left the campgrounds about 9 am for the 170 mile drive to the border. It rained off and on for most of the way to Abbotsford, BC. Just when we thought it would clear up with sunshine it would cloud up with heavy down pore, wind and lighting. But it lasted for a few minutes then clear up, starting a new cycle. We were traveling the same route we came up on 2 and one half months ago. This section of Hwy 1 (in BC) follows the Fraser River but the hwy climbs about a thousand feet above...

Feb 16, 2010 - E-Check
Well, today we decided to go on into Marysville and get our E-Check done on our truck. As I said yesterday, we have to have our truck checked before we can re-register it, and that has to be done before our birthdays in March. So, we made the 75 mile (one way) trip down to Marysville. Found the E-Check place, got our print-out and then found the post office and overnighter it to Ohio EPA so they can give us a waiver, which will allow us to get our truck’s registration renewed. After all this, we decided to have a late lunch and found a...

Jul 30, 2008 - Crater Lake
Start mileage: 41,448 End mileage: 41,633 We traveled 185 miles today. Today we visited Crater Lake, which at 1,943 feet, is the deepest lake in the US. It’s width runs from 4.5 to 6 miles. The waters are a crystalline blue and a wonder to behold. Since it’s fed only by rain and snow (no rivers or streams) it’s considered to be the cleanest lake in the world. WOW WOW and double WOW. The setting and the colors of sky and water are an awesome sight to behold. We had a wonderfully clear day that intensifies the colors. The lake rests in a...

It’s a full-size replica of the original Stonehenge which was built by Sam Hill, a local businessman, to honor the 13 Klickitat County residents who were killed during WWI. The death of 13 young men from this very rural area must have had a...
