Oct 21, 2012 - Going North
We are now in Lynden, Washington just south of the Canadian border. Over the last week we travelled from Idaho, through Montana, through Idaho again and are now in Washington state. We have stopped at many beautiful scenic spots and in little towns and again stood in awe as we paused to see the quiet and sometimes fast flowing rivers, the snow capped mountains and all around us the serenity of God's creation. So far we have driven about 5500 miles (8800 km)and we are within a day's drive from our destination. Most of our days look like...

Aug 21, 2012 - Hidden Village RV Park & Campground
Stayed at Hidden Village RV Park & Campground in Lynden, WA for two nights in a FHU site. Note 1: On Tues., 08/21/12, while traveling from Cache Creek, BC, to Lynden, WA, we stopped by the Hell's Gate Airtram in Fraser Canyon near Hope, BC. Deb rode the airtram down and back up as well as walked back and forth across the foot bridge over the Fraser River. I no longer do heights very well, so I avoid them whenever possible. We then stopped at Minter Gardens in Chilliwack, BC. There we had an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet (included Pork Chops with...

May 29, 2012 - Through the Seattle/Tacoma corridor again
I left the other side of Puget Sound about 11:00 am and headed for the SeaTac corridor of cars again. It was busy as usual but at least I found the Express lanes through Seattle this time! (You have to merge over into the fast lane at some point and then take a single lane under ground to reach the Express lanes. If you don't do it just right, too bad.) By the way, for those of you who are keeping score. I lost $2 on Keno and $2 on the slots at the casino, so I quit! Lady Luck wasn't with me obviously. They gave me $10. I lost $4. I'm up...

Oct 10, 2011 - Day #33, 10-10-11
Day #33, 10-10-11 This morning started at 7:15 in Winthrop Washington. Yesterday was nice but it started to rain over night. That was the kind of day we had to look forward to. There were early morning rumblings as the Diesel Pushers bullied their way out of the park just after sun rise. Good riddance, I won’t miss the Haughty Bastards anyway! We packed up our meager motor home following a breakfast of bagels with cream cheese and coffee. It was in the low 50’s and drizzling when we pulled up the gravel road onto Highway 20 and headed back...

Jul 11, 2011 - Day 41 - Lynden, WA
Slept in until 9am this morning, boy did that feel good. Then we headed out exploring. We drove over to Lynden, WA on the recommendation of the owner here. It is a town founded by Dutch settlers. We walked the streets and enjoyed the many different shops. We went to the Lynden Museum and spent about 2 hours there. The museum was featuring a display of wheels, so there were many types of bicycles, cars, carts, motorcycles and wagons. There are three floors of displays that includes the old town of Lyndon. We really enjoyed our visit. We then...

May 31, 2011 - Lynden, Washington
Although we drove fewer miles today, it was a difficult drive. It rained most of the day and we had elevation change as we drove through the Mt. Baker and Snoqualmie National Forest area. Snoqualmie Pass is a mere 3,700 feet, but the pouring rain made it more challenging. Traffic was heavier as well. As previously said, the Columbia Basin is quite fruitful with the benefits of irrigation. The crop fields were marked with identifying signs. We saw wheat, sweet corn, beans, grapes, peas, potatoes, alfalfa, Timothy hay, and grain corn. During...

Jul 20, 2010 - Northwest Washington
We are going to start heading south tomorrow. I figured I would post a few pictures of some of the things that we have been doing up here in Northwest Washington. We visited Mount Baker National Recreation Park (another of the volcanos in the Cascade Range). We also went to Lynden, WA for a Raspberry Festival. They had a car show and a dance in the old Pioneer Museum (we were entertained by Johnny Barnes formerly of the Platters and the Ink Spots). We went to a parade in Birch Bay, WA which is on the coast, for their annual Discovery Days...

Jul 19, 2010 - Lynden, WA
We just hung out in town today and did some chores. We found this historical museum. It was really cool. It was set up like the town was many years ago. Someone put a lot of thought into how this place was built. It was interesting as they captured pretty much every aspect of the town and what went on there over the years. They even had a collection of model cars of all types and sizes. Have you ever seen a cannon ball bank? I hadn't for sure. I took this picture of one item that no one could tell me what it is. If anyone has any ideas,...

Sep 9, 2009 - Lynden, Washington, USA
We are on our way to America today! And the traffic…but the views are still great! We had a beautiful drive down the canyon along the twisty roads. The first half of our journey was great, clear skies and a sunny morning. About half way down the mountain to the valley, it turned into clouds and rain for the rest of the day. Even that could not dampen our spirits as we went through customs and into the lower 48 again. Northern Washington State is green for a reason. We arrived at out campground in Lynden along with the pouring down rain....

Jul 11, 2009 - Back to the United States
On Friday we left Banff for our drive westward through Revelstoke, Kamloops and then down into Washington. The beginning of our drive followed the river valleys past Lake Louise into Yoho National Park. We then moved into the mountains of British Columbia and rode up and down the mountains. The worst part is when the place a flagman at the bottom of an 8% grade and they turn the sign around wanting you to stop. We spent Friday night in a small community called Salmon Arms. Suanne and I counted up the Canadian coin that we had remaining and...

Sep 10, 2008 - Lynden, WA
After the Alaska tour broke up, some of us headed to Lynden, Washington to go to a Washington State Winnebago Rally. As it turned out, there were 9 of the 23 coaches there. We had a great time and it prolonged our separation anxieties. Lynden is a neat Dutch type town and has a large farming community.
