Sep 17, 2013 - Joint Base Lewis McCord (JBLM), Lakewood, WA

The Fort Lewis side of JBLM is rather historic. The entrance is very nice and there are statues memorializing Capt Lewis for whom Fort Lewis is named and Sgt John Ordway who was the 1st Sgt for the Lewis & Clark Exploratory Expedition Corp and the only member of the Corp who was regular Army. There were a lot of old Army equipment scattered around the base. The Brass cannon in front of the Headquarters building were rather impressive.

Sep 14, 2013 - Joint Base Lewis McCord (JBLM), Lakewood, WA

We drove to the Commissary / BX on Joint Base Lewis McCord. We were told about the rather large ant hills on the golf course, we were skeptical; however, as you can see in the pictures, they are quite big. Now they are a definite golf hazard. When we go to the Puyallup Fair (now the Washington State Fair) we will board Houston at the Dog & Cat Barracks. It is the only privately owned Pet facility on a Military installation in the USA.

Jun 14, 2012 - 19 days to Departure

Welcome to our preparation for the Oregon Trail the E.G.G. (Endicott, Goldie, German) way. There are so many things to do. Jim has his list and I have mine. We have been researching this trip for six months-reading journals of earlier travelers, map routes, food, farmers markets.

Oregon Trail, 2012

Oct 19, 2011 - Last night in Washington until November

OMGoodness!!!!!!! I will be WITHOUT a cell phone for 17 days starting tomorrow! CRAZINESS! So tired.... so excited... so many things to do before my morning flight! This trip is much anticipated and needed. I will definitely miss my babies, nieces, and most of all my cell phone but a break from daily stresses and routine is appreciated. :) You know you're a Filipino when.... You hate to waste food.... (a) Even if you're totally full, if someone says they're going to throw away the leftovers on the table, you'll finish them. (b) You have...

My HIPI Trip 2011

Aug 2, 2011 - Bill's Family

Arrived early - like 9:00 a.m. at Bill's parents and I started laundry and we visited. Bill installed a new 20 amp dedicated circuit in Grandpa's garage and then changed out a sink fixture in the laundry room. Kids committed mayhem and the sun finally came out. Went up to Edgewood in the late evening for a great dinner with Bill's brother, Paul and family (Jessica, Jael, Konrad, Erik, and Ezra) for Konrad's 10th birthday. Then William stayed with Paul, Jessica and the boys and Jael headed back with us to Lakewood to sleep in the RV...

Jul 26, 2010 - Olympic National Park

We moved back down to Fort Lewison on the 21st of July. We are killing some time waiting for the weather on the coast to warm up. It looks like it is going to stay cool on the coast all summer long. We will be heading up to Port Angeles tomorrow. We will be there for about a week. Our intentions are to spend about 3 days in Olympic National Park, check out Forks, WA(the setting for the book series with vampires and wolves), ferry over to Victoria, B.C. and who knows what else. We took a Sunday drive to the south eastern edge of Olympic...

May 15, 2007 - Getting Ready to Go

Tuesday May 15, 2007. So many things to do and so little time to do them, but we will be ready by Friday May 18 to begin our trip south to Roswell New Mexico. Since we received so many comments about last years journal to Alaska, and this will not be like going to Alaska, we are trying it again. I hope you find it interesting and see the humor of/in our trip whereever we go, and in the words of our Jedi Knight "May the force be with you".

May 11, 2007 - Gig Harbor, WA

Sorry, no photos. The only internet access within 15 miles is at the library, so I'm scrambling to type this and get to my work emails before my computer battery dies. We are west of Seattle, in the Puget Sound, at Gig Harbor. We got in yesterday afternoon, and spent the rest of the day yesterday relaxing and getting to know the area. Today, we drove north to see the Navy's destroyers (from a distance) at Bremmerton, and a submarine exhibit in Keyport. The tiny town of Poulso (sp?) has maintained its scandinavian heritage, so I looked (but...

Oct 1, 2006 - Ft Lewis Campground, Tacoma WA

Well folks, we're finally hitting the road south. We spent the last two weeks at Ft. Lewis Travel Camp getting our affairs in order and having some fun. I've got to say, and this is a rare occurrence, that the Army blew the Air Force away with their travel camp. The camp is located on American Lake so we have a lake view to look at every morning. The facilities are nice, the sites are paved, and wi-fi and cable are provided. Can't beat that! Our household goods were picked up last week and we signed all the papers for the property managers....

Apr 16, 2005 - Finally!!!

Saturday, April 16, 2005 After spending two years of looking on the internet, attending RV shows, going to RV dealers, and driving to sales events in parking lots, we finally found our soon-to-be new home in the Tacoma Dome parking lot. Holiday Motorhomes, Inc. at Fife was having a sale on several of their RVs. We met a very nice sales person, Bob Ohrt, after we parked our car. He showed us some Holiday Ramblers and we especially liked the 2005 Endeavor. We went for a drive to feel how it was in this particular motorhome. Bob asked what we...
