May 3, 2019 Beautiful morning again. We have 225 miles to drive to Lake Chelan so passed on a walk through Whitman College. Also, Bob realized that we must gave deleted a spreadsheet line on our trip itinerary! Because we have hotel reservations in Vancouver and ferries booked we don’t have as much freedom as we would like now. We may need to skip Winthrop, an old west town with wood-plank sidewalks and the state’s oldest saloon. Last time we visited it was during hunting season which was a hoot. Lake Chelan Lakeshore RV Park Sept. 15-17, 2009 Leaving Grand Coulee RV park, we headed northwest on SR 174. The area is arid. The great irrigation project never did reach up there. An hour or so later, we were at the Chief Joseph Dam viewpoint. According to an info-board there, this is the second largest straight-line dam in the U.S., with twenty-seven generators. Sep 17, 2009 - Lake Chelan Boat Ride

A Boat Ride Up the Lake (and back) The next morning we were at the dock of The Chelan Boat Company. Our destination was about fifty-miles away, at the northern end of Lake Chelan—Stehekin. We then got on a bus and took a little tour up to Rainbow Falls, about three miles “up-valley.” The falls were pretty. After a stop at the Old Stehekin School, we had lunch at the Stehekin Pastry Company. Julie had been in Stehekin a year ago. She’d told us about their wonderful pastries.
