Apr 5, 2013 - 4th District Conference
We had a nice drive to Lacey today. Ran into rain as we made our way across the state, but that's okay. We were able to run a few errands too while we came this way, so that was good. We were sure glad we weren't headed North on I-5 though: it was a slow moving parking lot for MILES. Our meeting was at the Lacey Post 94. They served a nice dinner and there was a good crowd. The meeting was LONG. They did re-elect their Commander and Vice Commander. They're a good team and hard workers, so that will be good. We didn't get back to the hotel...

Feb 27, 2013 - We Downsize RV’s
Last summer, while travelling along the East Coast, we decided to get into a smaller motor-home this spring. When we finished the East Coast trip, we completed the “big trips” that we’d planned to take. While we thoroughly enjoyed the elegance and comfort of the Winnebago, it made sense to think about getting a smaller rig. We thought of how it would be easier to get a smaller motor-home into more campground sites, especially those with more limited access. We also thought about having a rig that Mary Anne might feel more comfortable...

Oct. 2 – 7, 2012 We left Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, and stayed at the Bonner County Fairground in Sandpoint, Idaho. We had a wonderful evening with Rich & Bonnie, parents of our son-in-law James. We enjoyed the fine dinner Bonnie prepared while talking about how wonderful James and Christina are, as well as reliving wedding stories back in New York! A couple of days later we pulled into the Jantzen Beach RV Park, on the bank of the Columbia River in Portland. It was time to enjoy Leo and his parents, Chris and Kima. It was Leo’s first...

Jun 25, 2012 - Olympia, Washington
Our route took us to Olympia, Washington primarily to see the State Capitol and downtown Olympia. Of course, raincoats were the attire for the day. We hopped on a local bus rather than drive into the city. We always think twice about parking our one-ton dually truck in a large city. Besides, taking a bus is a great way to relax and enjoy the ride. The bus conveniently dropped us off at the capitol building. Our guide for the tour was a retired history teacher with lots of enthusiasm. We haven’t seen that many capitol buildings but I just...

Days 62-66 The next morning, Monday, we pulled out of Prince Rupert RV Park in a down-pour! We headed east on Canada route 16, the Yellowknife Highway. The highway follows the Skeena River for quite a distance. The highway was one of the most scenic ones we have traveled. By noon we’d driven out of the heaviest of the rain. Yeah! That evening we stopped in the Village of Burns Lake. We ’d driven more than three hundred miles from Prince Rupert. I went into the visitor’s bureau office and asked about RV camping areas. The woman called a...

By 9:00 AM, on Monday, we were headed north of Sacramento on I-5. That day we drove about 325 miles and stayed at a KOA just north of Medford, Oregon. The next day we stopped for lunch in Cottage Grove with Pete & Ann Marie, before ending up at the Jantzen Beach RV park on the banks of the Columbia River in Portland. That evening we had dinner with Chris & Kima, after seeing how nicely they’ve decorated and arranged their house. On Wednesday morning, we crossed the Columbia River and were back into The Evergreen State of Washington! We...

Apr 1, 2010 - Camping World repairs.
I was at the CampingWorld service counter at 8am sharp to book Roo in. Unfortunately 2 other guys went in thru a side door and left me 3rd in line. Roo was booked in and shortly after 8:30 the tech was pulling Roo into the shop. He will install the step, check the a/c, and then fix the lights on the Saturn. Anne&Delores headed out to do some shopping, which concerned me somewhat as they are heading to the SuperWalmart in Marysville, which, for those of you who know the area is right beside Tulalip casino. They arrived back with the poor car...

Sep 23, 2008 - Lacey, WA - Travel Day
(Ron Writing) This morning we packed-up Da Honu and headed south. We first stopped at the nearby town of Marysville to gas-up the truck at Costco. The gas there was much less expensive than we’ve been paying recently, “only” $3.519/gal. That’s the lowest we’ve paid since May 8 when we were still in KS. I hope this downward trend in prices continues. The highest price we’ve paid for gas was $4.469 in Yellowstone NP, but we only bought a few gallons at that price. We only had to pay over $4/gal on 8 occasions and, aside from those few gallons...

Jack and Rose Say thanks to Cory and Elaine as we started this trip out as water thieves….we weren’t even sure if they were at the right house when we filled the rig with water for the trip…. We all met at Silver Reef Casino for cheap gas (as Chris suggested) but he was wrong already as the Arco before the casino was cheaper so we gassed up there instead. Then we were on to Chris next suggestion, the Federal Way Walmart, however, there is no camping at Walmarts in Seattle, so we ended up at Walmart in Lacy for the nite…..our intention was...
