May 16, 2017 - Bye, Bye Sue

We left the Mount Rainier area for Seattle/Tacoma area. We're staying in Kent at a KOA thats near Sea/Tac International Airport. I dropped Sue at the airport this morning so she could fly to Baltimore. She arrived safely early this evening. She's going to babysit Finn and Oskar while Kyle and Annie go to a wedding in Vermont. Kyle is going to drive her and the boys to Hagerstown, MD where Cindy, Annie's Mom, will pick them all up. Sue and Cindy arranged a tag team to take care of the kids for the week at Cindy's house in Grantsville, MD....

Jul 23, 2016 - Ashford to Kent

Ashford to Kent Day 64: Friday July 22, 2016 Our original plan was to leave Ashford for Kent between 10:00 and 11:00 am; the drive is only 80 miles. That plan was changed when it started raining in the night. The forecast the next morning showed a window of about 2 hours without rain between 8:00 and 10:00 am. So we finished breakfast, got the inside of the trailer prepared then went outside and got the trailer ready, hooked up and left the RV Park at 9:20 am. The rain stopped gradually as we headed toward Kent and the trip was uneventful...

As we are learning, most large cities have Segway’s, which Seattle is on the list. I will be dropping candy off this morning for her Segway of Seattle tour. So far she had been on the Segway in San Antonio, 2 times, Cincinnati, Myrtle Beach, Naples FL, San Diego, San Francisco, and Savannah. She is at the point they could hire her to teach people how to ride them. After the Segway we decided that we would Ride the Ducks. We have done this in a few places also. On the Duck we drove thru the town of Fremont Washington which is famous for the...

Apr 10, 2016 - Kent WA / Seattle WA

Today was our down day. We made a trip to Sam’s Club and returned to the motorhome. Candy needed to get her nails done so off she went to find a place. She did find one very close here in Kent. I must have gotten a little bug because I was a little under the weather so I stayed back and took it easy. One thing that did happen was my lift for the scooter completely broke. The main shaft tied up and that was it. I took it off and scrapped it to the local dumpster, looks like I need to invest in something else for the back of the truck. We...

Apr 9, 2016 - Kent WA / Seattle WA

Another day in Seattle. We drove back downtown to visit the Space Needle, something everyone related to in Seattle. There was a large crowd at the space needle, which is located in Seattle Center, today because of extra vendors and spring break is still going on. There were long lines to ride to the top but being a cripple we were moved to the front of the line. Guess it does pay off sometimes. We took the ride up but they have you stop on the second level to have your picture taken, at no cost. That is something different, take our picture...

Apr 8, 2016 - Kent WA / Seattle WA

Our trip to downtown Seattle was not bad compared to traveling downtown to San Francisco. It only took us 45 minutes to travel 20 miles. Once we got to downtown Seattle was a very busy place, not sure if it is always like this or just a normal Friday. We found a parking lot finally that was close to the Pike Street Market which will be our first stop. Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle. The Market opened August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers'...

Apr 7, 2016 - Kent WA / Seattle WA

As we pull out of Driftwood RV Park today is kind of sad. We would have liked to stay for the Rock Clam Festival this weekend, but there is no room at the inn. Everything in town is full. Candy did meet a couple that arrived at the campground yesterday that were from Toledo, Toledo Oregon. They were both retired US Navy and were here for the festival. They stated these are the best calms on the West Coast. As we were driving thru town it was already getting crowded with people for the festival. We continue our trip on US 101 which will...

Jan 6, 2016 - Visits for the new year

On New Year's Eve we have a progressive dinner with the residents of the neighborhood. Well this year 3 of us have moved out of the neighborhood but we decided to go ahead and just have a potluck dinner. We invaded Pam and Ben's new home in old town Anacortes and had a wonderful time. Liz and I compared notes on our 2 breast cancers and found out that I will see the oncologist on the 11th and she will have her biopsy on the 11th. On New Year's Day we moved the rig from the Thousand Trails in Bow to Bingham Park in Sedro Woolley. Yeah! I...

Jun 24, 2014 - Kent, WA.

Again we are camped at a KOA(Kampground of America). We are in Kent, WA a suburb of Seattle. The park isn't as nice as the one in Astoria. It still has a pool, playground and activities for the kids. I believe this park is older. The spaces are tight and not accommodating to big rigs. We fit in okay. Which is the reason we didn't want to go over 32 feet. It is also close to the Highway. Thank goodness we are parked in the back. The kids wanted to take a Ferry Ride. We drove into Seattle and caught a Ferry over to Bainbridge Island. One more...

Apr 13, 2014 - 11th District Conference

Our trip to Auburn went pretty well until we stopped for dinner in Everett last night. We ate at a nationally known chain and had an absolutely horrible experience -- long wait, wrong food ordered by the waitress, delay in getting the right food, wrong order for me, one portion way overcooked... Yuk! I'll be very hard pressed to eat at this chain again. Anyway, we got to our hotel later than expected due to the dinner delay, but had a very restful night and were not rushed to get to the meeting. The meeting in Kent went well. No one yelled...

Nov 23, 2013 - Membership Day

Up early again today. Traffic was a little lighter since it was early Saturday. We spent the day trying to wrap up remaining efforts. Help from other Posts was very thin, so we didn't get as much done as we would have liked, but still not too bad. I took the National Vice Commander and staffer out to dinner at 13 Coins in SeaTac. We had a nice relaxing dinner and conversation. They will be getting up very early to catch their planes, so I offered my thanks for their efforts and wishes for a safe truip home.
