Sep 7, 2016 - Issaquah Village RV Park

We left the Jantzen Beach RV Park around 0900 this morning hoping we waited long enough so that the morning traffic rush was over. We lucked out as the traffic heading out of town was very light and the inbound traffic was still at a crawl. The weather is a bit unsettled and the sky is overcast with cool temperatures in mid 60's with high humidity. Our journey today was only 172 miles. I-5 in Washington is in fairly good repair. Traffic was medium and the weather went from dry to very light showers "On and Off" the entire trip. Traffic...

May 18, 2016 - Housekeeping

Today was one of those days that had made me reluctant to do a Journal of this trip. We did nothing worthy of your attention and took no pictures. Christine did laundry. I vacuumed and tidied up. After a late lunch I went out and filled the truck with diesel for tomorrow's journey. After dinner we dismantled the sewer system and hitched up the trailer to the truck all to reduce our time in packing up tomorrow. This was partly due to the distance we have to travel combined with the loss of an hour as we cross from the Pacific to Mountain...

May 16, 2016 - Along the I90

Not a very adventurous day. We were up early and packed up in a dull, damp, slightly wet morning. We joined the I90 freeway not far from the campground and drove east. As we ascended the pass, we ran into signs warning of dense fog ahead. Fortunately, we were below the worst of it and as we descended, the sun came out and for the rest of the journey we drove in sunshine. We stopped for lunch at the rest stop opposite the one we had stopped at on our way from Post Falls. We continued on and filled up with diesel at Ritzville then completed...

May 16, 2016 - Couer d'alene

We got up this morning and I called about the Internet problems. While the fellow was very helpful in diagnosing the problem, he was not successful in solving it. We had breakfast and I went over to the office where I was able to get through and check email, etc. We then set of for Couer d'alene and parked near the beach. We walked round the marina which claims to have the longest floating boardwalk in the US. We admired many boats and walked round a park containing a veterans' memorial. We then set off up the main street and discovered the...

May 15, 2016 - Church and Rain

It has been a very wet, misty, dreary day. The bright spot was this morning when, after breakfast we set off for a local Church where we received a very warm welcome from the hundred or so worshippers. The pastor approached Paul's admonitions about women and worship in a unique way which was quite interesting. We filled the truck with diesel on the way back to the campground. After lunch we wrote letters and then read. It was not a day for sight seeing or going for a drive. We trust tomorrow will be better as we set off for Post Falls. I...

May 14, 2016 - Seattle - Markets & Trollies

We got up earlier than usual and had breakfast then set off to catch a bus at the park and ride. Since we were early we decided to catch the one prior to the one we had originally planned. We had understood the buses ran every half hour. Unfortunately they ran every hour until the one we had originally gone for so we had to wait three quarters of an hour for the next one. A gentleman who was also waiting for a bus helped us understand the system and very kindly gave us a book of timetables and other information about the transit system. The...

May 13, 2016 - Shopping

No photos today I am afraid, neither of us took any. It was another hot, sunny day with just a smattering of cloud. After breakfast we drove to a nearby shopping centre where Christine spent some time choosing clothes. I wandered round the stores and spent most of the time in Target. What a difference from the apology they opened in Sherwood Park a couple of years ago then closed. The quantity and quality of the goods on display far surpassed what we were offered. Christine and I met up at a sandwich shop where we had a late lunch then got...

May 12, 2016 - Camping World and Issaquah

We packed up this morning and set of through Tacoma to Fife where we stopped at Camping World. We usually stop at these stores when we are within reach of them as they carry a lot off things we do not see in Canada. We picked up several items including two chairs to replace the ageing ones in the trailer. One of them no longer reclined properly. We went round the back to dispose of the chairs then returned to the entrance to load the new ones. We had to unpack them and dispose of the cardboard. We drove through fairly heavy traffic to the...

Aug 2, 2014 - Back in Washington State

Spokane, WA We only had 450 miles to get to Issaquah, but our route took us right by two cities where we had friends to visit, so we made several stops along the way. First was the Spokane area to visit with Larry and Sandee, friends we first met at the Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona in 2012. They winter there every year, and we will be spending the coming winter at this fabulous resort. But we couldn’t drive by their home without stopping, so we enjoyed shared memories and caught up on their activities over dinner at...

Jun 19, 2014 - The Bloedel Reserve

Went to the Bloedel Reserve, a large, 150 acre estate of the Bloedel family. Bloedel was a lumber baron and built a 8,000 square foot house and the grounds turned into a "Botanical Forest Reserve on Bainbridge Island". This is truly a beautiful place to visit. If you would like further information please see www.bloedelreserve.org.

Washington 2014

Jun 17, 2014 - It has been a day

We left Concrete and made it to Issaquah, a 100 mile drive. As I was inside the office we heard a loud explosion but didn't what caused it. After registering and walking outside I noticed a lot of liquid dripping from the side of the motorhome. I opened the battery door and saw that one of the batteries had exploded. It almost completely blew the battery apart. What a mess. SOOOOO, contacted the battery company in Long Beach and found their dealer is in downtown Seattle. Got in contact with them and got the address which was 30 miles away....

Washington 2014

May 29, 2013 - Issaquah, Washington

We left St. Regis, Montana this morning and drove through Idaho and into Washington. We stayed in a camground in Issaquah...a little town about 40 miles East of Seattle. The RV Park was old, tiny and had only two pull-through spots. We were able to get one of the two, but for only one night. That worked out perfectly as we only needed it for one night. It was nice there, but I really wouldn't have wanted to stay there for more than the one night. The sights were so tight that with the slides open on the RV next to us and the slides open on...
