Sep 11, 2012 - Tillamook to Hoquiam, Washington
Today we left Tillamook, Oregon and traveled to Hoquiam, Washington (150 miles). We have traveled 1719 miles since we left Arizona on April 1st, and we are still headed north towards British Columbia. We have 5 stops planned in Washington and plan to be here a few weeks. Our third stop, Port Townsend, will be our northern most point before we start our southern journey to Arizona for our winter stay. This year we have decided that we will break-up our 5 1/2 month desert stay into three different locations. The first two will be 1 month...

Jun 13, 2012 - Say Tillamook Cheese!!!
We have arrived after a very curvy 215 mile travel day. We are staying at the Hoquiam RV Park in Hoquiam, WA. We will be here for a couple of days before moving on to Sequim, WA. We have a nice site with a great view of the river. I am buying Jerry a fishing license for the his Father's Day gift so he can do some fishing while in Washington. Our only stop today was a quick one to have cheeseburgers and pick up some cheese at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. We toured the factory years ago and love their cheese and other great products. My...

Oct 16, 2011 - Day #39, 10-16-11
Day #39, 10-15-11 This morning started at 1:30am with an agitated doggie. I had left my cloths in the living room anticipating this was going to happen again as she did nothing at 9:00pm when I walked her before bed. Her gratification did not last long as I was up again at 3:30 as well. You can’t get upset with her as you are going through the same thing and understand that when it’s time….it’s time! I slept in till 8am and got up to make coffee for Barb, Tea for me and a new batch of rice for Bridget. I had a very light breakfast of...

Oct 15, 2011 - Day #38, 10-15-11
Day #38, 10-15-11 We started our day at about 8:00am. The weather channel promised sunshine and sure enough it crept in under the window shades. I know it was cold out last night as the heater ran most of the night just trying to keep it at 67 degrees inside the motor home. When we got ready to leave at 9:45 it was still 50 degrees out. We started off driving into down town Port Angeles; there was an old town section we had seen yesterday. I managed to park on Main Street as we got there so early. There were more homeless on the street than...

Aug 2, 2011 - Days 19/20....Canada Roaming
Hope there aren't too many photos for you! We received notice from Verizon Sunday night that we were in "roaming", signal was coming from Canada. Quick, turn everything off quick! We were back in normal Verizon mode this morning when we left Salt Creek Rec. Area. If there had been cell/internet available there we probably would have stayed longer. It was a great park. Yesterday we drove many miles in the truck exploring the area. We drove west to the furtherest northwestern point in the lower 48 states...and there was no sign to prove it!...

Aug 13, 2010 - Cannon Beach, Or - Hoquiam, Wa
All week at Cannon Beach the mist has won over the sun EVERY SINGLE DAY. Now that we are leaving, we wake up, draw the curtains, and find BRILLIANT SUNSHINE. That's not fair! Instead of heading down to the beach, we busy ourselves with packing and clearing the house. It doesn't take long to reach the Columbia river mouth, and the border with Washington. The mouth of the river is HUGE, and the bridge is one mile long. On the other side (back into Washington after two weeks), we stop at Dismal Nitch (great name!), a rest stop, but no free...

Aug 14, 2009 - Hoquiam & Quinault
On Tuesday we left Chimacum and headed toward the west coast. We are currently in a campground on the Hoquiam River in Hoquiam, WA. Hoquiam lies at the east end of a 15-mile deep bay off the Pacific Ocean. It adjoins the larger town of Aberdeen. The campground isn't beautiful, but it has all the hookup and wifi requirements. Today we drove north about 40 miles to Lake Quinault and the Quinault Rain Forest. We took a four mile stroll on a Loop Trail that runs through the forest and along the lake. This area of the peninsula receives about 12...

Jul 27, 2009 - Tillamook to Hoquiam Washington
We had a nice clear day July 27th as we drove north from Tillamook on our way to Hoquiam, Washington, a distance of 156 miles. We were able to leave early and decided to visit Fort Clatsop near Astoria, Oregon. Fort Clatsop is a National Memorial Park with a replica of the fort built and used by Lewis and Clark as their quarters from December of 1805 to March of 1806. While at the park we observed a demonstration of a black powder musket. The musket was of the “trade” good type and did not fire during three attempts with replacement of the...

Jul 20, 2009 - On Our Way to Hoquiam, WA.
On July 20th we packed up the lawn chairs, threw the dogs in the truck & headed off for Hoquiam,WA. We drove a whole 78 miles up Hwy. 101 & it was just beautiful. We stayed at the Hoquiam River RV Park, which we don't think we'll ever stay at again. There was a constant oder in the park which seeped into the 5th-wheel, so I was for ever burning candles. Oh well.

Jul 3, 2008 - Travelm from Tillamook,OR to Hoquiam,WA
We were sad leaving Tillamook since the Pleasnt Valley RV park was so beautiful-spacious and set beneath beautiful pine trees. 58 degrees this AM. We left at 9:20AM and arrived Hoquiam at 2:15PM. A winding road up and down following the Coast line and small towns along the No. Oregon Coast-so scenic. Drove through Cannon Beach, Seaside, etc. We finally arrived at famed Astoria where Lewis and Clark stayed. The bridge crossing the Columbia River was absolutely stunning-a geometric network of steel woven into twin arches. We ascended to the...

Jun 28, 2007 - Too late to play
Well, we got outta town a LOT later than we had hoped so we won't have time to play on the way. We have five hours to make a five hour trip. So we'll be flying along with no poking around. The gate at the campground closes at 10pm and we're leaving just after 5pm. Now THAT's cutting it close. Except for a slow-mo that we got caught behind for awhile on White Pass, we made good time and made it to the campground at 10:05pm. The campground manager was just heading up to the gate to lock up when we drove up. Whew! No sleeping in the car after...
