Fort Flagler is about two hours north of where we live. It’s across the bay from Fort Townsend. Admiralty Inlet, the main passage from the Strait of San Juan de Fuca and the Seattle, runs alongside some of the Fort. On our drive to the campground, we took the scenic route along Hood Canal on Highway 101. it was a beautiful drive. We camped with friends Bud and Judy. Aug 31, 2013 - Western Montana-- Day 4

We stayed in Metaline Falls to see the Civilian Conservation Corp Camp that Mary Anne’s dad worked at in the late 1930’s. A Google search showed that the CCC camp had been at nearby Lake Sullivan. There’s a USF campground at the lake, and a USF District Ranger Center nearby. When talking with staff in the visitor center, they said the grounds was formerly the CCC camp and pointed out several buildings from that era.
