Apr 19, 2011 - Cleaning up and more airplanes

4-19-11 Did the normal coffee/breakfast/internet thing this morning and had that out of the way just in time to go do my laundry! I love the chore. While waiting for the duds to wash, I spotted a Jiffy lube just down the street and decided to treat the Toyota to a nice oil change and lube. I will be driving hard in a few days so I thought it was the least I could do for it. Clothes were done at 11AM so it was time to wash myself so I went to Gary’s place for a shower. Since it was a nice day and I had time for it, I drove out to Paine...

Aug 21, 2010 - Return to USA

This morning was our coolest day in a while with a temperature of 47 degrees. We have to be at the ferry terminal by 10:00 AM for our 11:30 departure for Anacortes, WA so we made our preparations for departing the RVP and then took one final walk around the park before departure. We have enjoyed our stay on Vancouver Island, but it is time to move on as we have many more roads to travel. For the trip back to the USA, the weather was gorgeous and it appears many Canadians and Americans have started their weekend early as there was a lot of...

Aug 20, 2010 - Ready to leave Everett WA, Maple Grove RV Resort

For the past six years Dave has been working at Boeing/Everett and it is time for he and Kathi to "hit the road" for their retirement cross-country trip. This month we will begin our long awaited trip of touring the US of A. Here are a few pictures of what we are leaving behind (does not include pictures of all our friends and family). The next update will be after we leave Maple Grove RV Resort later this month....

Aug 5, 2010 - North to Everett

Said goodbye to the boys and retraced my steps to Tacoma via the new Tacoma Narrows $4.00 toll bridge for Everett, my home town, where I planned to spend the night at the Everett Navy Base support complex some 8 miles up I-5 in Marysville. First, had to stop by the cemeteries to honor my mother, grandparents and uncle. I was unaware of the existence of my Mother's brother, who died two years before she was born. It was only a couple of years ago I found his grave. Located in the city center within sight of our family home. The head stone...

The Alaskan Frontier

Aug 2, 2010 - Boeing

8/2/10 We traveled to Everett, Washington yesterday. The park we are staying in is to say the least tight. Our 40’ motorhome is on a 38’ site. The coach hangs over in the back and is touching the fence behind and the front of the coach is out in the street so much that the park owner gave us an orange cone to remind people that our mirror is out in the road. The SSR fits in by the coach with just enough room for the car door or the coach door to open not both at one time. The other side of the car has just enough room for that door to open...

Oct 25, 2009 - Washington State

Dear Family and Friends. We are now in Florence, Oregon and since it is raining, and will continue all day I’ll take this opportunity to catch up on our Journal. Like I said we are now on the Oregon coast the only thing separating us from the Pacific Ocean is sand dunes. Tomorrow the weather should improve so we hope to do a little four-wheeling on the dunes. We left Utah last Wednesday and headed to Walla Walla, Washington for a visit with my brother Neil and his family. The sites were beautiful and it is amazing to see the landscape...

Sep 30, 2009 - Visit to the Northern Seattle Area

Sunday we traveled from Leavenworth on Highway 2 over Stevens Pass into the Seattle Area. The mountainous canyon had tall rock slopes that were very steep, very dramatic. We lunched at a small family Mexican restaurant in Gold Bar with excellent salsa and chips ( the mark of a good Mexican restaurant). We ended up in a RV Park in Everett which was about the closest to Rich and Gerd in Snohomish. The Lakeside RV park was totally asphalt, except for a pond. Definitely an urban RV site. Later we realized we probably could have stayed at the...

Sep 23, 2009 - Packing up the rig!

This trip has snuck up on us as we find ourselves scrambling to fix everything on the rig rattled loose on our last couple of excursions. Then we must decide what clothes to pack, food to take, and jettison any articles not necessary for the journey. This summer quickly flew by with house projects, barbecues, vacation Bible school, family, and grandkids occupying our attention. So join us as we begin our next trip to visit the land where our very first adventure began.....our honeymoon trip down the Oregon Coast. But if the weather turns...

Jul 8, 2009 - Tacoma, WA

July 8, 2009, Wednesday - Day 24 - The temperature was 58 degrees this morning, but at least it's not raining. We got an early start...left the motorhome about 9:15 a.m. so we could run a few errands on the way to Tacoma, which is our destination for today. Tacoma is about 40 miles South of Everett and the first stop for sightseeing. We decided to take Gypsy with us today since the temperatures were so mild; we didn't have to worry about it getting too hot in the truck while we were sightseeing. We put her blanket in the truck and also took...

Jul 7, 2009 - Anacortes, WA

July 7, 2009, Tuesday - Day 22 - The temperature was 58 degrees this morning in Everett, WA and the weather man was predicting rain. This is not what you want to hear when you have a full day of sightseeing planned. We had wanted to get an early start because we wanted to take the ferry in Anacortes to the San Juan Islands located just off the coast of Anacortes. For some reason, we kept getting delayed that morning and didn't leave the campground until about 11:30 a.m. Anacortes was about 40 miles North of Everett and was a nice drive,...

Jul 6, 2009 - Everett, WA

July 6, 2009, Monday - Day 21 - We woke to a light rain this morning, but thankfully it passed over quickly. Today was a travel day and we needed to hitch the Trail Blazer to the rig. Haven't had to do that in the rain yet, but I'm sure at some point in the future, we will. The rain stopped, we secured the rig and tow vehicle and pulled out of camp in Post Falls, Idaho about 10:00 a.m. heading West on I-90 toward Spokane and on to the Seattle area where we'll spend several days. We decided to stay on I-90 since we planned to drive about...
