Sep 1, 2017 - Washington Peninsula Adventures

August 31, 2017 Olympic Peninsula Adventures On Sunday morning everything I drove or wore was dirty, including my skin. I was so excited to discover the Rainshadow Laundromat/Car Wash/Shower in Sequim. I threw my clothes in the washer, went to take a shower, and by then my clothes were almost ready to put in the dryer. Pretty sweet! I had time to do a little aisle cruising at Home Depot and Wal-Mart before meeting my friend Deb Raden, aka Radar. We met last winter in Borrego Springs and have kept in touch. She lives full-time in her RV,...

Jul 21, 2016 - The Future of Flight

The Boeing factory in Everett, Washington, is the largest building in the world by volume. It is large enough to put Disneyland, plus 28 acres of parking inside the building. Or 800 hockey rinks. We saw the assembly line for 747's. The most interesting part of this area was the way they moved the wings. They are too big and heavy to be moved by crane to the area where they are attached to the fuselage, so they are moved along on airbags. Next stop on the tour was the area where the 787 Dreamliner is manufactured. This Boeing location...

Oct 24, 2015 - Everett WA

We made a short trip to Seattle to see our son Jesse for his birthday (which is Halloween). We joined up with Justin Baker, and we all went for a day trip out to Whidbey Island and Deception Pass. It is a beautiful area and one of Jesse’s favorite places up there. We walked across the Deception Pass bridge and saw some kayakers learning how to paddle in the currents. The pass is so narrow there that during tide changes there can be standing waves and whirlpools. Navigating through the strait and into the shallow waters beyond of Skagit Bay...

Jul 19, 2015 - Everett, WA

Daily Mileage--87 Toal Mileage--1650 One of my readers asked what ORI is. It is Outdoor Resort Indio, our winter home. The resort has just over 400 motorhome lots that are privately owned. Check it out at www.orindio.com Friday, July17--The Aire is parked at Seven Cedars Casino near Sequim, WA. We hitched up the car around 10AM and the steps of the motorhome would not retract all the way. When that happens an alarm goes off inside when you put the coach in gear. We opened and closed the door several times with no success. I got out to...

Oct 27, 2014 - Last day in the greater Seattle area......for now

Farewell to the Greater Seattle area, for now 10-27-14 Last day in the greater Seattle area. Been a good visit but won’t miss the rain. Hanging out with Gary today. Drove around a bit then went back to Marysville to pick up Julie. The reason all of us can’t ride together is because the Toyota pickup only seats two (barely). Julie said it’s time for a larger truck. Without transportation for three, we were forced to look for lunch on foot. We walked around the Tulalip Casino and the area near it until we found a food court in the Seattle...

Oct 26, 2014 - Visiting friends and family in the Pacific Northwest

Marysville, Everett, MountlakeTerrace, and Northgate 10-24 thru 10-26-14 Friday (10-24) was a move day for the RV to Lakeside RV park from Tulalip Casino parking. Need to charge, dump, water up, and get showers. First order of business was to get Gary and head to the 112th Street Diner (Everett), for breakfast. After that, over to Tulalip to get the RV and Julie. After establishing camp, Julie, Gary and I went to the movie “Fury” playing at the Everett Mall. The movie was good, but not for everyone. John met us after he got off work and we...

Oct 21, 2014 - Day 46

Hello Everyone, Another fun day began with the short drive up Grouse Mountain for a visit to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Suspended high above the Capilano River the bridge allows you to cross from one side of the river to the other with the only catch being that the bridge sways and bounces as you walk across making it both a fun and frightening experience at the same time, but really the bonus is the great views you get whilst crossing, that is of course if you are brave enough to stop and take in the views. But the park that contains...

Jun 10, 2014 - Boeing

Up a little later today so that Charlotte can sleep. She is getting better, but will take a little time. She wants to thank all of you for your prayers. We have a week before we will be walking around an Alaska town, so until then she will take it easy. I am going to the Future of Flight and Boeing Tour. This is a tour of the building where Boeing builds the 747, 767, 777 and 787 airplanes. These are all classified as large aircraft and they are all built in one building. This building is 98 acres in floor size and stands about 7 stories...

Jun 9, 2014 - On to lovely ? Everett, WA

I got up at 6:30 this morning and started putting some things away in preparation of heading out. I got Charlotte up at 8:00 so that she could get something to eat and get ready to move. On the way to head off the base we stopped to gas up the car and motorhome, and then connect the car. We had a 2 hour drive for today, so it was to be an easy day. We are headed to Everett, WA. Sounds like a wonderful city with lots of pine trees and beautiful fields. Nope, not even close. Everett is just an extension of Seattle, and the run down part at...

Aug 27, 2013 - Back in the US!

After saying goodbye to Toni, we headed south on the Coquihalla Highway. It was a drive thru magnificent mountains! There are warning signs all along the hwy that say "High mountain road - weather subject to sudden change." Avalanche warnings are frequent & evidence of avalanches is everywhere. We drove thru the Great Bear snow shed - almost 1,000' long. (We've only seen snow sheds for trains - not a highway!) Then we drove down into the Skagit Valley & on toward the border. We'd been told by a number of people that the easiest border...
