Jul 15, 2012 - Race Day in Elma WA!!!!
I found out what makes vacations so much FUN!! You take time to do a few of the small things that you don’t do, when you are home. We had a blast at the Grays Harbor Raceway; we never take time to go when we are home .This 3/10 mile, semi-banked, clay, oval race track is located in Elma WA. Speeds were clocked at 108 to 125 mph. If we were going to be in this area next week, it sound like it would be a blast; Greg Biffle will be here and some lucky fan will win a ride around the track with him. After watching them turn the curves on three...

May 21, 2012 - Another idle day
Okay, “another rainy day in Washington”. I stole that from “Another rainy Night in Georgia” by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Have you ever wondered how they came up with the name of “Pips”? Me too! So, of course, I looked it up on the internet (wouldn’t have been able to do that 20 years ago, would have gone on forever without knowing how they came up with the name “Pips”) and found out that her backup singers were her brother and 2 cousins. One cousin had the nickname of Pip…thus, the Pips. However, Gladys and the boys did not sing this...

May 20, 2012 - Idle
What a lazy pair of bums we were today. Holy cow, John didn’t even get out of his jams…all day! At least I got dressed, about 4 p.m….hehehe. We are back to normal weather…rain. It rained all day. We had no reason to leave the trailer, even though I would have liked to have the Sunday paper and was too lazy to go get in the truck and drive to the supermarket to get it, and John, well, like I said, he never got out of his jams. John decided to make Pho (Vietnamese Soup) since we had all the ingredients for it. Lunch was quite delicious, I...

May 19, 2012 - Flood in the trailer
Just when I thought we were safe from mishaps. Boom… things happen that are somehow my fault. I just go about my business, oblivious to consequences, doing normal things and darn if something doesn’t go wrong. Lately, I have been having a problem with turning off the burners on our two remaining ones on the stove. I think I turned them off, but we find them still on. It must be early senior moments. Boy, do I get the look. Last night I got the look, and the silent treatment. So, today, we had a horrendous leak under the sink while I was...

May 18, 2012 - A better day
What a difference a day makes. We both got up to sunshine and a happy spirit. Isn’t it cool when a miserable day changes to a good day in just 12 short hours? We headed out with no destination in mind. We needed to fill up the truck…$$$, then we kept on driving and ended up in Hoquiam. We lucked out as there was a grand opening for a new Napa Auto Store surrounded with antique cars. We pulled over and checked out some of those beauties. To our great surprise, they were serving free (one of my favorite words) hamburgers and hot dogs....

May 17, 2012 - Some days are not so good
Today was one of those days that nothing seemed to go right. We have a problem with the stove, the oven doesn't work and now one of the burners stopped working. This will seriously affect my ability to prepare gourmet meals for my grateful husband. I know he appreciates all the home cooking I do for him, and looks forward to masterpiece dinners. Ha...he wishes. Seriously, I am not happy about the stove. We called a few repair places (still under warranty, thank goodness) and one says "bring it in and leave it, then in a couple weeks we'll...

May 16, 2012 - Our day of research
It was a quiet day today. We went for a walk, read some and generally had an easy day. I've been playing "Words With Friends" (scrabble) with some of my buddies. Boy, at times they are killing me. I didn't know there were so many words that none of us have ever heard of. I found a website that lists all the Civil War battle sites. One of our long term plans is to be able to visit all the major cities that were a part of that history. Both John and I are completely fascinated with anything to do with that era, and will frequently read books...

May 15, 2012 - Answer to Music Jeopardy
For those who have been anxiously awaiting the answer to the Music Jeopardy (I like that, it will be the new tag line. Here is the answers. There were 15 songs on this crazy paragraph. Did you get them all? “Come Monday we are going to go dancing because I love the good life. I asked John what he would wear, but he didn’t respond, so I said please answer me. He said “I’m sorry, but I was thinking about that too. I think I will wear a white sport coat cause it makes me look oh very young and I just want to be with you.” I laughed at him...

May 9, 2012 - Olympia, Washington (State Capitol)
A lovely day for a trip to the State Capitol. We drove to Olympia (especially to spend the $45.00 that was burning a hole in my pocket) for lunch. What a pretty drive. As much as I may complain about the weather here (it seriously does rain a LOT), but when the weather is good, is an amazingly beautiful country. The colors are magnificent…especially the many different colors of green in the forests and the fields. Our first stop was at the State Capitol. I will admit that we have been there before, so we did not go inside on this trip. Of...

May 8, 2012 - McCleary & Shelton, Wash.
Another sunny day, so we decided to take advantage of the weather and head out to see a new town. We got in the truck and drove off. We only had to drive about 7 miles before coming to the town of McCleary. A little history…..the population in 2010 was less than 2,000. "Henry McCleary came to the land in 1897, building two sawmills and a door manufacturing company. He sold the land and the companies to Simpson Logging Company. On January 9, 1943 the land became an incorporated city named after its founder. Henry McCleary's house is still...

May 7, 2012 - Date Shakes
We are back in Elma where the sun is shining brightly. What a welcome change. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. It is amazing how different your whole being is when the sun is shining. It is such a spirit lifter. So, what do you do when the sun is shining…you go find a little local hamburger joint and order a chocolate milk shake. I value a really good milk shake. It cannot have too much ice cream and lots of chocolate. This one had a rating of 5 out of 10. Too much ice cream, but satisfying the desire of a milk shake, nonetheless. I...
