Oct 14, 2019 - Ellensburg WA

Our departure from the Spokane KOA was going great – cold, but great – right up to the point where it wasn’t. We got everything buttoned up and I noticed that the front steps weren’t retracting when you closed the entry door. That’s a problem. So I commenced to checking connections, rebooting batteries and whacking the motor with a hammer – which is what finally worked. I think what happened is that when we got to the park on Wednesday I had squirted off the muddy steps and some of that water froze in and around the motor in the overnight...

Aug 9, 2019 - 15th STOP - Ellensburg, WA

8/9/19 - Another interesting drive today. Spokane was not too far from Coeur d'Alene and once we got past it the topography really changed. Very flat, with very few trees or ranches in sight. What farming there was was probably straw because the fields looked like dead grass. Went by a couple of "towns" and then there was a stretch of about 10 miles where the stuff growing in fields had a sign indicating what was grown. There were lima beans, sweet corn, potatoes, onions, Timothy (don't know what this is), and alfalfa. We went across a good...

Aug 24, 2017 - Travel from Post Falls, Idaho to Ellensburg, Washington

August 24 –Travel from Post Falls, Idaho to Ellensburg, Washington A short trip today. We are taking a long way around to get to the North Cascades National Park so that we do not have to climb and descend the North Cascades Mountain Range on Route 20. There are many 10% ups and downs and some 20% areas that our Sprinter and I need to avoid. The drive across Washington on I-90 was nice, most of the way. We passed hundreds of large wheat fields with pivot irrigation that had been harvested. On a 14-mile stretch, signs were posted naming the...

Jun 15, 2016 - Ellensburg, WA

We left Pendleton around 10am and I really thought all the mountain passes were behind us. But no, that wasn’t the case. We drove quite a few before we got to Ellensburg and also quite a bit of construction, but we made it. This was a very exciting day for us. We keep a map on our RV and add states as we visit them. Well, Washington is the ONLY state in the continental U.S. that we haven’t visited in the RV and today was the day to check off all the continental U.S. on our bucket list. The scenery was beautiful with many, many vineyards...

May 3, 2016 - Ellensburg

Another beautiful, blue sky day. We packed up this morning and set off on Interstate 90. It was a good drive through Spokane which was not too busy and on westward. We encountered a roll over on the way. A number of trucks and other vehicles had stopped to attempt to right the car. As there was plenty of help, we did not think a 71 year old with a dickey ticker would add to the effort and continued on our way. We trust whoever was inside got out OK. We stopped at a rest stop for lunch about 50 miles short of our destination, Ellensburg. It...

Oct 3, 2015 - Mount Ranier

Staying a couple of nights in Ellensburg, we drove through some of the Cascades to get a good view of Mt. Ranier. On the way we followed a river that was running pretty wild. When we past the dam, we found that the reservoir we found it down down about 30 feet. Evidently, they are required by law to make the river run like that for the salmon... a couple of other reasons too. Ranier is very impressive

Drove to Bothell, WA and camped at Lake Pleasant. Beautiful campground. Campers are parked around a big lake that is in the middle of the campground. Got caught up on laundry and food shopping our first day there. Mike our friend from the Escapade came to have dinner with us that evening. Got caught up on all our travels. The next day we drove to Seattle. We took a duck boat tour which was directly across from the needle. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed all the sights. Afterwards we walked around Pikes Public Market and the...

Perreault's Getaway

Jul 11, 2015 - Ellensburg, Washington

Arrived at a KOA campground in Ellensburg. What an amazing trip from Packwood. We drove through beautiful MTns. and followed rivers. It was a bit scary looking down through some pretty steep ravines, but it was absolutely breathtaking. After setting up and having lunch, we found a barber so Dan could get his hair cut. We had a lazy afternoon, catching our breath for some more site seeing. The next day we drove to Leavenworth about 70 miles from here to a Bavarian town in the Cascades. Just beautiful. There was an art show in the center of...

Apr 9, 2014 - Milton-Freewater, OR to Ellensburg, WA

4-9-14 Milton-Freewater, OR to Ellensburg, WA We sure enjoyed our visit with Nancy and Larry in Milton-Freewater. They were very gracious hosts who took time off from their busy work day to educate us about their businesses and show us a good time. We all went to breakfast in downtown Milton-Freewater at a place called “Ron’s Place”. Food was excellent and conversation was even better. After breakfast, we hooked the Toyota up to the RV, said our goodbyes and were off. We left at about 12:30PM which was okay since we didn’t plan to travel...

Oct 6, 2013 - 6th District Conference

The 6th District (my home District) met today in Ellensburg. It was a beautiful day and, somewhat untypical of Ellensburg, not windy. 6 of 12 Posts were present, a somewhat better turn-out than usual. Auxiliary turn-out was small. Everyone was tired. Some, like me, were fighting a bout of food poisoning from the lunch yesterday. I had to stop three times to hit the bathroom in the 80 mile drive this morning and had to visit the facilities at least that many times while at the meeting. I think I am empty now! I guess those are the hazards of...
