We are currently at our friends Dick and Toni Whitfield's in Deming, Washington. We will be here until Tuesday when we will be leaving for Canada. They have a beautiful home and property. Great views of the mountains and forest, along with the Nooksak River across the road from them. We had a great dinner with them last night and today we will be visiting with my Navy friend Ken Jansma. Yesterday the weather was great, last night it rained, I guess it always rains in Washington, today it looks as though it may rain again or just be overcast.

Canada & Alaska 2008

May 12, 2008 - A Week with Friends in Deming, Washington

After our pleasant trip to Victoria, we shifted focus to preparing for our trip to Alaska. Rather than driving all the way down to Tacoma and Seattle to get around the Puget Sound, we took our truck and RV across the Sound on a car ferry. We boarded the ferry at Port Townsend and took it across the Sound to Whidby Island, a very pleasant trip and an interesting experience loading our big rig onto something that floats.
